NBA 2K7 slams factory

Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2 versions of 2K Sports' pro-ball simulation finish development, head to stores early next week.

NBA 2K7 Trailer

Parker's floater, Carter's two-hand jam, Marion's "thing" on display.

Superstar teams full of NBA players may be having trouble reaching gold in international competition, but that doesn't mean games based on the NBA can't. 2K Sports today announced that the Xbox 360, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 versions of NBA 2K7 have gone gold and will be in stores on September 26.

This year's edition adds hundreds of new and unique animations for players, visually showing the difference between Rasheed Wallace's high-release jumper, Shawn Marion's fundamentally incorrect heave, and everything in between. In addition to the traditional professional five-on-five game, NBA 2K7 offers 24/7: Next, a single-player, story-driven streetball mode.

The game will go up against rival ballers in Electronic Arts' NBA Live 07, which also debuts next week on the same platforms and on the PC and PlayStation Portable, and Sony's NBA 07, which releases a day later on the PS2 and PSP.

NBA 2K7 is rated E for Everyone and will retail for $59.99 on the Xbox 360 and $29.99 on current-generation consoles. A PlayStation 3 version is also in development and will be released this holiday season. For more on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

I really hope 2K7 sells more copies than Live for once. If EA lemmings stopped dropping cash everytime a new EA title comes out and actually spent a few minutes playing 2K7, I can guarantee most of them would walk away purchasing the 2K title instead. Hopefully the free XBL demo has hit enough EA-maniacs. Visual Concepts has always been one of the most underrated, talented sports developers out there. With a quarter of the budget and manpower, they brought out a more quality title. Support 2K7.........FrankieLA That is the best way to explain what is going on and I have to say that I agree with upmost respect on this one! This game should be very good and a great step up for the 2K6 title.

I just hope that 2K7 Basketball isn't a big disappointment like 2K7 Baseball was.

Doubling the price for 360 owners is crap. A $10 difference would be acceptable, but going from $30 (for xbox) to $60 (for 360) is ridiculous. The NBA 2k* series has always delivered the best basketball on any console.

This will continue to be the EA Sim Killer of all times. It is, has, and will always be the best basketball simulation out there. And in 6 years when the NFL license runs out with EA and 2k can make football games, oyu better get ready for the demise of EA

I hope Gamespot will do a comparison between Live and 2K when they will be release next week, like they did with NHL. I am still unsure which version to buy. The demo of 2K7 was amazing, but I notice that sometimes, the player seems to float on the court (meaning the footsteps do not always follow the movement of the player). It's more evident when the player is stopped and you just tap the stick to move the player a little.
