DDR dances its way to platinum
The dancing game moved 1.2 million units in North America last year.
Dance Dance Revolution sold more than 1.2 million copies in North America in 2004, publisher Konami said today. Since the franchise first hit living-room dance floors in 2001, DDR has sold more than 2.5 million units on the continent.
"DDR has become a cult classic in North America and it just continues to attract more fans every day," said Jason Enos, product manager for Konami Digital Entertainment America. "There are DDR fan clubs, fan sites, and contests." Players often use the game to lose weight and stay fit while dancing to maddeningly energetic J-pop and electronica.
In 2004, Konami danced into stores with two new products, Dance Dance Revolution Extreme for the PlayStation 2, and Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix for the Xbox.
