The Incredibles getting back into the game
THQ is bringing back the computer-generated cast of Pixar's superhero adventure for another multiplatform outing, including its debuts on the PSP and DS.
Though the sequel to the film The Incredibles isn't even on the drawing board yet, THQ is already laying the groundwork for a second game based on the Disney/Pixar blockbuster. The publisher hasn't settled on a title yet, but that didn't stop it from announcing that the game will ship this fall for the PC, Macintosh, Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2. It will also be available for three major handheld platforms--including Sony's PSP as well as Nintendo's DS and Game Boy Advance.
No rating or pricing information for the second Incredibles game was available as of press time, nor were any plot or genre details made public. THQ did release sales figures for the first Incredibles game, which sold 2.5 million units across all platforms.
The publisher also divulged that its internal studio Heavy Iron Studios would reprise its development duties for the PC and console versions of the game, despite the first Incredibles' lackluster critical reception. Another internal THQ studio, Helixe, will develop the Nintendo portable versions, while its PSP-only developer, Pacific Coast Power & Light, will tackle the adaptation for Sony's handheld.
"Our ability to work with Disney and Pixar in creating this all-new video game based on the extremely popular Incredibles property demonstrates the depth of THQ's relationship with the talented teams at Disney and Pixar," said Jack Sorensen, executive vice president of THQ's worldwide studios. "This next installment in the series will give millions of fans worldwide the opportunity to interact with Mr. Incredible and many other beloved Incredibles characters in a brand-new adventure this fall."
