San Andreas actor found dead

Body of Reservoir Dogs star Chris Penn, who voiced Eddie Pulaski in the latest GTA, is discovered in Santa Monica.

His character in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas may have met a semicomic end in the Las Venturas desert, but there was nothing funny about the real-life passing of actor Chris Penn. Penn, 40, was found dead in an apartment in the seaside Los Angeles suburb of Santa Monica early this morning. Police told the Reuters news service that they did not suspect foul play.

Penn, the younger brother of Oscar winner Sean Penn, was a veteran character actor. His roles in such films as Resevoir Dogs, True Romance, Rush Hour, and Starsky & Hutch made him a familiar face to moviegoers. Gamers knew him from GTA: San Andreas as the voice of corrupt Los Santos Police Officer Eddie Pulaski, the accomplice of game villain Officer Frank Tenpenny, voiced by Samuel L. Jackson.

Penn's death is the second San Andreas-related tragedy this week. Over the weekend, a massive fire damaged some offices of Take-Two Interactive, owner of Grand Theft Auto publisher Rockstar Games.

Aw man. I remember all the movies he played in. My favorite was Starsky And Hutch. I kinda feel sorry that I killed his character in San Andreas.

so sad... wait till Jack T finds this, he will say it was a suicide or something "games made him do it!"

i am thinking there is a link, take two offices burnt "inadvertently" and a corpse of a popular GTA voice actor, when Chris Bellard dies i am going to put a watch on Jack Thompson!

goku2000 I think Jack Thompson and Hillary Clinton did it. Us gamers should gang up on them! BAN HILLARY AND JACK in the memory of Chris Penn!!! In all seriousness, RIP dude. Your movies and game contribution will always be remembered. Thanks!

Sigh...may he rest in peace. Though I dislike GTA, I love Rush Hour. How long until Take Two goes out of business?
