Godzilla: Save the Earth Monster Profiles - SpaceGodzilla, Mothra, MOGUERA
Take an exclusive look at three new monsters from Atari's upcoming brawler Godzilla: Save the Earth.
Back in the old days, fighting games were simpler distractions that pitted the guy-in-the-white-shirt against the guy-in-the-red-shirt in a best two-out-of-three match. They also didn't have as many giant monsters. But that was then, and this is now--and now is the time that GameSpot has the pleasure of bringing you these exclusive monster profiles from Godzilla: Save the Earth, the upcoming brawler for the PS2 and Xbox that stars Godzilla and a great many of the gigantic, city-smashing reptile's friends and foes. The game won't be available until November, but until then, get the info on these mighty monsters, and see exclusive footage of each one in action on the PlayStation 2 and on the Xbox.
SpaceGodzilla
The fearsome SpaceGodzilla was seemingly the result of a freak mishap. In the 1994 motion picture Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, Godzilla's enemy Mothra ends up bringing part of its wounded enemy's "G-cells" through a black hole. After being bombarded with many different types of radiation, this remnant of Godzilla's essence somehow fuses with a mysterious crystalline life-form that ends up cloning itself into SpaceGodzilla--a look-alike monster that is just as good at smashing things as Godzilla but also has the ability to travel through space, as well as the ability to unleash spectacular energy-based attacks (thanks to its alien heritage).
The 88,000 ton SpaceGodzilla towers over most cityscapes at a height of 394 feet and is a fearsome opponent in battle. In the game, SpaceGodzilla isn't as fast on its feet as some other monsters, and it also doesn't possess the exceptional close-combat skills that some of the game's more physical critters do. However, it can use its alien powers to conjure up crystals from its own body structure to fling at its enemies, and it also possesses telekinetic powers that can be employed to strike enemies from a distance. Additionally, these powers can be used to pick up and hurl enemies through the air.
