E3 06: 2K Games possesses Ghost Rider

Publisher confirms itself as the mystery buyer of the game based on Marvel's Spirit of Vengeance.

Last December, Majesco announced that it had sold off the rights to two comic-book-based games it had been working on to an unnamed publisher for $8 million. In March, 2K Games stepped forward as the purchaser of The Darkness, immediately leading to questions about whether it had also picked up Ghost Rider. At the time, a 2K Games rep told GameSpot, "We have only announced Darkness. Anything else is just speculation."

That speculation proved accurate today, as 2K Games announced that it will indeed publish the Ghost Rider game that takes its cues from both the upcoming Nicholas Cage film and the Marvel comic book series. The game is being developed "for console and handheld systems" and will arrive alongside the film in February 2007. Majesco had previously planned to release the game this year for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable.

Climax Group is still developing the game. No rating or pricing information has yet been announced.

    Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider!!!! Oh YEAH, i Love Ghost Rider. This game is going to be awsome, the movie is going to be awsome. I CANT WAIT.

    Just release this game at PS2 or PS3 not at the other console, if they want to sell BIG.

    I LOVED DareDevil so I'm looking forward to the movie. And because I'm a big Ghost Rider fan, I would also pick up the game

    What is ghost rider? I know some old dudes on this other forum who got really excited about the new movie. It's something from the 70's 80's insn't it...

    The film's no longer releasing Summer 2006, then? Ghost Rider is really the sole Marvel property that I'm actually interested atm in getting the game of, watching the movie, etc. ...Hopefully some screenshots will be released soon.

    Johnny Blaze..!!!!!!

    There is a movie set to release based on Ghost Rider, and nicholas Cage is playing the part of The ghost Rider himself (Johnny Blaze){Method Man}

    ^^^ They are making it into a movie. And yes they will ruin it just like they did with Punisher. At least we still have the Spiderman and X-men movies.
