Take-Two unwraps Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
PS2, Xbox, GBA, and PC sweetened with platformer's release; GameCube edition coming next week.
Take-Two Interactive is giving every gamer a golden ticket. The publisher today announced that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is now available in stores for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, PC, and Game Boy Advance. GameCube owners fear not. Charlie and company will be available for Nintendo's console next week.
The release of the game coincides with that of the Warner Bros. Pictures film it is based on, directed by Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Big Fish) and starring longtime Burton collaborator Johnny Depp (Finding Neverland, 21 Jump Street). The game strays slightly from the film, following Charlie as he cleans up the mess left by the other children, as well as fixing broken machinery.
Burton contributed ideas to the game, and Depp lent his likeness to the digital Willy Wonka. Many of the film's other cast members provided their likenesses and voice-acting talents for their respective characters.
High Voltage Software and Backbone Entertainment developed the GBA, PS2, and Xbox versions, while Tecmo worked with Backbone on the PC version.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is rated E for Everyone and sells for $39.99 on the PS2 and Xbox and $29.99 on the PC and GBA. For a better taste of the Chocolate Factory, head over to GameSpot's previous coverage.
