The Legends games are definitely the best X-Men games out there. If you like destruction, try this one out.

User Rating: 8.2 | X-Men Legends GC
Pros: plenty of mutant powers, lots of playable characters, lots of destruction, and of course…Gambit.
Cons: Lots of plain old button-mashing, a bit repetitive after a while, overhead view isn’t exactly great.

You can count on X-Men Legends being the best X-Men game out there. It’s not perfect, but then again, most games aren’t. In X-Men Legends, you’ll get to choose four out of about fourteen characters to have in your party not including Professor X. The story revolves around Alison Crestmere also known as Magma. She’s just discovering her powers. The Brotherhood, Magento’s gang, discovers this and tries to abduct her. Unfortunately for the Brotherhood, Wolverine happens to be passing by while they try to abduct her. Magma is saved by Wolverine and Cyclops and is taken to Xavier’s Institute in the X-Jet. You’ll take control of Magma whenever you’re in Xavier’s Institute. You’ll get to meet some of the other X-Men there. You’ll also be able to access the Danger Room. When you receive a mission, you’ll be briefed by Xavier himself. On your missions, you’ll take on various members of the Brotherhood including Magneto himself. Also, you’ll get to go to the Astral Plane where you encounter one of Xavier’s enemies. You’ll even get to take control of Xavier for a short time. During your missions, you will try to discover why the Brotherhood wants Magma for themselves. Along the way, different members of the X-Men will join you. Each mutant has his or her own unique abilities. Some of their abilities will be very valuable to you. For example, Jean Grey can create bridges. You’ll need bridges in order to cross some areas in the game.

You can plug-in extra controllers to play with your friends in this game as well. You have the ability to perform combination attacks as well with two of your characters. Each character also has a special attack too. Since this is an RPG, you’ll level up your characters and spend points to improve their abilities. You’ll get to buy and collect items along the way as well to improve your characters’ defense and such. Characters that you do not use in battle will gain experience in the background to keep up with the characters you do use in battle. Obviously, they don’t gain as much experience though. As you reach higher levels, you’ll unlock new abilities for your characters as well. Sometimes, you can improve your abilities only at certain levels. In this game, you’ll also get to do flashback missions. For example, one mission takes place in the Weapon-X Facility where Wolverine was given claws. In the mansion, you’ll get to look at stuff you unlocked like videos and art. You can also play a trivia game. You’ll gain experience with every answer you get right.

Some of the places you visit in this game are pretty cool. One of them is the Astral Plane that I mentioned earlier. Taking control of Professor X is pretty sweet as well. If you like destruction, you’ll probably like this game because you can destroy just about anything you see. But, you may need to beef up some of your characters first to destroy certain things. Anyway, this is a pretty solid game. It’s fun. It does get repetitive because you fight the same bad guys a lot. This is probably a good game to rent first. It’s not long either. It’ll probably take less than 30 hours. If you like beating people up, you may want to give this game a try. Well, I guess that’s all for now. And of course, like I say in all of my reviews, if you have a question, feel free to ask me.
