The start of it all... er... The start of the Super jumps and the Exagerated Super Specials for Capcom.

This game was a great game, of course by today's standards it's something not worth getting. That's ok though, if you're a true 2d fighter fan then you'll enjoy and appreciate it.

Ok, now that I've told you my personal feelings towards the game, let's get into the review. At the time, '97 I believe, the graphics for this game were unbelievable. The backgrounds were amazing. Of course they were all drawn out and animated, which I think is needed today (11yrs later). The movements of each character were decent for the time, but for the PSX with it's minuscule processing power, decent can be equated with amazing.

With that let's talk gameplay. I cannot stress enough that you shouldn't compare this game with MvC2. It can't be done. Why? Well i'm glad you asked. Because of the difference in the engines among other things, there really isn't anything to compare. It's like saying my 08 malibu is better than your 84 nova. Of course it's better, there's no argument. Anyway without Children of the Atom there wouldn't be a vs. series from Capcom. The game may lag a bit but, as stated before, that's what was expected so it didn't bother me much.

The sound of the game was great too. Every hit, beam shot, and claw slash was heard. I really can't remember the music so I can't grade the game on that.

All in all, this game was the pinnacle 2d fighter, until SFIII came out, so it was short lived as well.
