WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 User Review
- Difficulty:
- Hard
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Mixed reactions"
I got all the way to the final two people on the last belt, and my opponents seemed to reverse and block every move and despite him bleeding and having his head and body in the red, he seemed to have enough energy left to kick my ass and pin me.
When they say "hard" you expect a challenge, but when you spend half the match running away from your opponent, it just takes the fun out of it. I do suggest that for the final belt, you turn off DQ so you can grab weapons and beat them into submission, although, they'll often counter and take the weapons from you.
That said, the create modes are pretty cool, especially the create-a-finisher where you can create simple two step moves or moves that take up to 10 steps, which allows to create moves that switch between holds with a gutbuster inbetween or multiple suplexes or piledrivers.
The Exhibition modes can be fun, too, despite not having the infamous bra & panties match (probably taken out for legal reasons).
I do miss not being able to lift a super heavyweight as a cruiserweight. It is a little unrealistic to see Ray Mysterio lifting The Big Show over his head despite The Big Show probably way two to three times as much as Ray.
It was always funny in the older SvR games to see opponents struggle to lift the superheavy weights.
In conclusion, the difficulty and some other things can be a bit unrealistic and impossible, but there are some fun moments. WWE SmackDown vs. RAW gets two and half Pedigrees out of five.
