The best wrestling game for GameCube.

User Rating: 8.9 | WWE Day of Reckoning GC
WWE Day of Reckoning is another installment in the WWE franchise.

The story is great as you will feel like you are whoever you are controlling. Mainly because of the fact that you have to create your own character. So, you create your character and you have a little meeting with Vince McMahon, the owner of WWE. He tells you that if you do well enough in the developmental training, he might consider letting you go on Heat. And if you do well on Heat, he'll sign you a contract for you to be on Raw or SmackDown.

So you pretty much just create a character and go through all the steps it takes to become a WWE superstar. You have to create a superstar, so you can't just pick one wrestler and play as them. So if you want a game where you can play as John Cena, Batista, or the Big Show in story mode, this isn't the game for you. However, even though you cannot play as them in story mode, you can still play as them in exhibition mode.

The controls are great and they work fine. If you haven't played for a while, then you will have some trouble. The learning curve should take about 10 minutes to understand how to play, but hours to fully master the controls.

There is this brand new Momentum Shift which speaks for itself. When you get beaten up badly enough, your momentum bar will change and it will say danger. It will then tell you to press two buttons to shift the momentum. So your momentum goes up and your opponent's goes down. You can only use this once per match though.

Your momentum meter will constantly change. If your momentum meter is high, each damage you inflict on your opponent will increase your special bar faster and if it is lower, it will increase slowly. Once you fill up that bar, you will get a letter which will allow you to activate your finisher. Get all three letters and it spells WWE. You will press two buttons, and you will have to press those same buttons on your opponent to activate your finishing move. But remember, your opponent can reverse your finishers and obtain a finisher themselves.

The music is good and you might enjoy it but if not, feel free to turn the volume down. There are no voice overs so be prepared to do a lot of reading.

All in all, this is pretty much the best wrestling game out there available for the GameCube. If you aren't a wrestling fan and are looking for something fun to play, try this game out because it is a very good game.

I highly recommend this game.
