LOTR Return of the King on PS2. What more do you want?

The plot is the same as the movie there's nothing extra, nothing missing except there's extra content to be unlocked after you beat the game once in single player mode. The graphics and voice overs were fantastic although the controls were at times frustrating and the there was one too many invisible walls in my opinon.
Now this game can be a tad hard at times, espeically with the level "On top of the wall" where you play as Gandalf and you have timer with no idea on what's to be accomplished. Do you push the ladders down? Kill orcs? Slay that dragon? No. When I beat that level (after countless hours of trying) you simply had to stay alive and keep the castle getting over run by orcs. Once that's accomplished you descend to the lower levels of the castle and the game continues.
This game has no saving point in the game so you start right at the beginning of the level when you die. On a brighter note, there's a ranking system where you choose which skills you want your hero to learn. You can get them all if your at the max level (10) and have enough EXP points. In the single mood there's 3 paths you play from (You must play them all) the path of the king with Aragron and friends, path of the wizard with Gandalf and path of the hobbits with Frodo and sam. Yes, there's no Merry or Pippen but you can choose to be them after the beat the game once.
During the cutscenes they're actually scenes from the that sort of mend into the actual gameplay, it was quite fun to watch Gandalf become a computerized being after charging into the orcs at a certain point.
Now on the the mutliplayer. Well this was released in 2003 for the PS2 and therefore no online play. However a friend can join the fun but in mutliplayer you must beat the entire game all over again, its an entirely different mode where none of your single player progress has been passed over. There is no split screen and gets quite cumbersome when one of you is farther away trying to get something or kill someone but you can't proceed until your buddy comes along. But putting all that aside LOTR Return of the King is a great game and if you want an action game based on a fantastic movie, check it out.
