Same-old Worms thrown in silly cartoonish and bright 3D world.

User Rating: 8 | Worms 4: Mayhem PS2
The first 3D orientated Worms game I have played.
The first disappointment was the childish and silly cartoonish visual style of this game. But later I got used to it, but still – I prefer more dark, ambient and realistic Worms, like the first game which contained darkish atmosphere, laughable voice-over and comments.
But as for Worms 4: Mayhem game-play itself – it is good and entertaining as Turn-Based strategy can be.
I remember playing this game for about 10 hours in a row, and it never appeared to become boring or repeat itself, and the story and voice-over, those funny-silly side missions (like collect the vegetables for dino-soup) kept the game alive and entertaining for many, many hours.
Basically it is still the good-old 2D oriented Worms game, combined with 3D and silly cartoon style visuals. This combination is good. But here we have one bad ting – Worms 4: Mayhem haves the longest load times I have ever “enjoyed”. A simple level will load ~45 seconds, and this will be especially “enjoyable” upon failures, when you will need to reload the level in order to replay it. Awful indeed.

So, if you are open-minded Worms fan and have enjoyed and completed Hogs Of War, and if you want to enjoy Worms in a 3D world, this game should satisfy all your needs, especially when you collect some friends around you and throw Holy Hand Grenade, Old Lady, Inflatable Scorcher, Concrete Donkey and other crazy stuff in multiplayer mode on them.

Pure enjoyment!
