Can 11 million+ people be wrong?

Welcome to the World of Warcraft; the most over hyped game probably ever (maybe after Halo?). Seeing there was an opportunity to play it for free for 10 days, I decided to give WoW a try, because it is the most discussed game ever. So the following is just experiences of a few hours of playing and Undead Rogue (lvl 5), Human Priest (lvl 5), some other even less developed characters, as well as some research. On to the review.

The game is a terrible waste of time. Addicting? I'll give it that, but so is heroin/crack/domestic violence/murder. I found that after just starting the game, I already burnt 5 hours. The combat was intriguing: right click on an enemy and then press a number (1 for smite) and then press another if you took too much damage (2 for lesser heal)... I know, I know, involved stuff! After a few hours and reaching level 5, and doing really boring quests like kill X amount of X critter or bring back X amount of X critter X part. After a while, it doesn't pick up at all. All due to the fact that combat is extremely unrewarding, which really sucks because this game really puts an emphasis in fighting. Maybe if dodging/parrying could be performed, and you could swing when you desired but rely on stamina (oh wait, that would make most of the stupid "skills" utterly useless, nevermind).

If I wanted to avoid combat in this game (because it is extremely boring), pacifism in this game (a supposed RPG), doesn't pay at all. There are no (or rather not nearly enough) accessible quests that don't revolve around killing, and exploration is greatly hindered by the number of super high level creeps. So in order to get anywhere, even just to explore the world, you need to partake in the world's most poorly thought out combat mechanics. Please count me out.

Harsh score? Maybe, but damn, I want my 10 hours back. I hate to think how much more time people have wasted on this garbage.
