I just hit 90 on my Mage yesterday, got up to ilvl 443 and did a heroic.
I don't remember which heroic it was.
Tank starts, we get a few pulls down when the tank says "do better dps u guys suck"...so I was curious to see what everyone's DPS was, so I do /recount show.
I'm doing 45k DPS, and I'm top.
The rest of the DPS are all 30k or below.
I check their gear real quick...tey're all 460+, so I just say "I agree...I'm only ilvl 443, I should't be top"...
And I'm the one that gets called the elitist.
I'm confused...the tank is raging about everyone's DPS(after every pull, in all caps), and they let it go.
I say a simple comment and I get called an elitist jerk nerd rager...

Obviously it's because you seemed to have said you were better than everyone whereas the tank said everyone sucks equally.

If anyone whines about trash DPS (in lolheroics) they usually are douches and you should probably just ignore them, they will probably quit the instance eventually anyway, so the 5 main is doomed for failure.
Every time a tank has cried about DPS on trash, he leaves anyway, or he's horrible.

No, you must be pulling ATLEAST 60K for it to be acceptable on GameFAQs.
Once you hit 460 you should be well over 100K, and by the time you're soloing Heroic Tier 14 Raids, you'll probably be around 500K DPS. All of this is sustained DPS, mind you, not burst.

It's a level 90 5-man. The term "Heroic" at this point has lost any meaning - dungeons simply now just have a "level 90 version" and the "non-level 90 version". As long as stuff was dying, who cares? Was in a group with an Aff lock in Stormstout Brewery doing 15k DPS on bosses. Fortunately I and one of the other DPS were easily making up the shortfall, so what does it matter?

Except no. Trash DPS will be over inflated due to AoE spam, and while classes/specs with better AoE (And especially tanks) will shine on trash while others with weaker AoE will fall behind, it is in no way indicative of what DPS will be like on a boss, which is the only time where DPS will actually be important.

Trash dps can also suffer due to the speed of level 90 5 mans (I like it, Hak). Most tanks will round up pretty much all trash on the way to a boss and be constantly moving which makes it very hard for some classes to rattle out much of anything

Call me elitist, but I shouldn't be doing 50% of the damage as tank in a dungeon. Blazing through dungeons is much more entertaining than spending ages on a boss because people are doing dps that would have been shameful in ICC.

I've just gotten used to 4-manning dungeons I suppose... either through AFK peoples, or people doing crap DPS. My output is reasonably decent, and I usually do runs with my Monk Brewmaster friend - their damage is currently obscene - so don't really concern myself if there's a DPS lagging behind, as long as they're making some kind of effort. I do get stroppy at the AFK people.

I wouldn't have agreed with you and spouted off a comment like "lolheroics" a few days ago until I ran with people in full heroic/raidfinder gear who could barely kill the first boss of scholomance before the ice wall hit.
