@TerrorToaster Graphics and game engines don't take up even half the space the game uses. They aren't big at all and are downloadable. However, the new exp coming has a set of graphic enhancements, a big one including water physics and definition. It looks much more realistic in the exp than it did previously. however, i love this patch.. blizzard is an amazing company and dominates the gaming world.
I think it's time people stop whining about how much Blizzard didn't deliver on a game in which you invested 300+ hours. how about instead of acting like children and tearing down Blizzard because you're tired of your old toy, you go ahead and admit that they made such a good product, your only real complaint is that they can't churn out the quality fast enough. Blizz did a hell of a job with WoW, and I for one am stoked for a new one from them while I am still remarkably able to extract enjoyment from their last 5-year-old product.
World of Warcraft Vanilla 6 million players Burning Crusade 9 million Wrath of the Lich King 12 million Cataclysm 16 million (aprox) Keep the current trend and everyone is gonna get to play it.
This patch actually made me stop playing the game, truthfully it did. I'm on the singleplayer bench until Frozen throne is opened. Spend hours after hours after hours, days after days after days, in a single square like room, no ty :)
and, the players who play the game by not looking to the story, i call them real losers, cuz they dont know the lore of WarCraft and that is a real loss, but that shows how great this game is, every kinds of players play it.
You guys are being really stupid! What is blizzard going to make, World of Warcraft 2? World of Starcraft? World of Diablo? No. cataclysm has been announced, so stfu about needing a new MMO because it won't happen for a long while.

I started playing wow about 18 months ago and was hooked even with the dated graphics and gameplay. It has now been a month since i quit for the reason that my real life was more important than some game as awesome as it is. (although i will play it again someday) While the graphics and gameplay might not be as new and fresh as anything being produced today you cant blame blizzard for adding new content for a game that makes them billions of dollars each year, would you drop a cash cow that big i dont think so!! WoW is the best at what it does and will go down as the greatest mmorpg of all time. graphics and gameplay aside it will be a classic and still played aslong as blizzard keep the servers up. how many people out there still play there old snes rpgs? do i even have to mention starcraft i bet no one has the balls to say that is out dated in fear of war being declared by south korea. Ahh blizzard keep up the good work! and bring on starcraft 2 to hell with wow2!
What are you people so angry about? It's just a (FREE) little instance that is meant to just kill some more time. Don't expect some, revolutionary, ground-breaking, "OMFGBBQ this is amzing my mind has been blown" patch. Graphics help a game, but they wouldn't usually make a game unplayable. It came out in 2004, for cryin out loud. A graphics enhancing patch is simply too huge too distribute to 11 million people over the internet.
-Unreal- They might still be releasing patches and new content, but to me that is really just coasting along, keeping people hooked with new PvE content. Most of it is more or less just rehash of the old stuff. Had ANY other developer been dealt with a success like the one Blizzard got, they would have had a sequel out by now, that reinvented the gameplay with new features and updated the graphics. World of Warcraft might have millions of subscribers, but let's face its gameplay and graphics is massively outdated. If the game had been released as new game today, as it is now, it would get torn apart by critics. The only thing the game still has going for it is its waste amounts of cheap generic content(shouldn't be too hard make lots of it with such low detail graphics and small amount of voice-acting), which it can keep suckers coming back for more.
if blizz dont give f... i have option to play aion, is not blizz made but is new ,fresh,pvpve inovative,have pvpve battlegrounds and more ...:)so i dont stop to dead end playing wow as you :P
lol i'm not ''crappy graphic a.k.a'' ,i am one of millions ppl who are bored playing wow from all aspects(lore , graphic , strategy ...) or are quitting .This is the true ,we need new mmo from blizzard and i speak for all ppl who want new mmorpg fantasy from blizzard.

Sigh, wow isnt what it used to be, when i watch this im glad i dont play it anymore. This is sorry to say but just lame lol. since wotlk i started to hate this game, i know a lot of people disagree probably, but thats just me i guess. im moving on.
@CheeseDogs You asked where is the Lich king in WoTLK. You obviously haven't even played the expansion then have you. He makes several appearances.
@TheFreeloader If they have 11 million people playing their game and they release new content it's not called milking, it's catering to the crowd. They're not going to just leave the game as it was back a year, 2 years or even 3 years ago when they have that many people playing it. That would be a stupid move and it's a move countless failed MMO developers have learned from in the past.
Nickske1 Not really. I and a few other friends didn't care about a story at all. Which is why we didn't play on a role playing server. Played to have fun, joke in vent, and get new gear. The new MMOs are adding area indicators on the map so people like myself who have no interest in reading a back story to a quest just to get it done asap.
Graphics isn't "all" in a mmo, you still need a great story, characters, etc.. Without a story a mmo is screwed anyways, people will not play it for long cus they just run around, not knowing what the game is all about. But in WoW you have a total of 10 different races, and each has their own history etc. To kick WoW from the throne, you almost need a perfect game.

Same old crap. I miss the old 40 man raids and joking with guildies. Now you have to use all these damn vehicles, pay constant attention to make sure you are #1 on the "METER", the social fun is gone. I want my beer movie and spamming frost bolt while joking around in Vent back and back to Battlegrounds with no little goblin in a black tuxedo making me duel in a box. Loving Vanguard, they fixed a ton of stuff
Wow was fun and all, but it is just SO primitive compared to the MMO's that are being released now. After playing WAR and now as I wait for SW: ToR, theres just absolutely no draw to WoW anymore.
yes NervoZa is true,game is not bad or .....but after 3 years of playng wow i want something new from blizzard ,new mmo with good and new graphic design new lore, i know they have mony but they want spend on new mmo,for that we need to force them to build new one quiting this game :P
Everybody has his own point of view my friend....and please don`t get me wrong,I`m not saying that new MMO`s shouldnt be given a chance!! I like Lineage II and WoW at the same time (omfg can u believe that?!?!) I`m just saying that the game has an unique feeling to it and it comes up to the player to immerse himself totally in the Warcraft universe to be able to understand that...yeah sure WoW has flaws but whats perfect ? Yeah sure if you are "addicted" in terms of items,loot,epics or whatever and you just grind,grind,grind till you get something on the screen its no wonder you say the game needs to die...for me its up to the person playing it to experience Warcraft with its unique lore and background!
lol ppl are to cheap mby but with 400 euro you can buy dual core 2g ddram and 9600 GT card and LCD monitor so stop this with game having good sistem req...in this days ppl can play good games with cheap PC ,but if you have ,,Grandma PC'' is your problem then run wow forever and have fun :))

Nice...maybe he can tell us what the future of the game will be and what to expect (game came out 2004 +10 years=2014 | It`s 2009 now :O Back to the subject....the game is great and its popularity has nothing to do with graphics! Visual effects don`t make a game great,what makes it great is the feel it has to it,the story behind it! I actually think that its great that the game doesnt have huge system requirements...this way ppl can focus on getting money for their monthly fees not for building a high-end system just so you can enjoy it...

well,most of the guy say this game is bad and all that...you know,about getting addicted on it....so most of the people try to leave the game....i been playing that for 3-5 years and i know someone who played 10 years...we both ain't addicted on it....maybe because we some times miss few month to play (2-3 month) because no money to afford pre-paid card....anyway i hope they make it a lot better
still a great game, its good to see these boys are still dedicated to adding something new, even if it addresses the old. After the BC i stopped playing as everyone around me who dont have jobs maxed the game out again leaving me behind (i was at uni when this game fiorst came out so had loads of time . . .and i was on a programming course) now i just cant dedicate the time and it ANNOYS ME AAAAGGGHHHH!!!!!!! why does everything have to be eppic before you even get a sniff!!!! Great game, good to see theres still life in the old dog but im gonna bet they are making the second one or updated install rather as we need to get into something new. re rolling is a pain in the ass now

Yeah, its a good MMO, but Im over it too. Roll on Old Republic. Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. Im FAR more excited about Mass Effect 2 and BioShock 2. Oh yeah, and dont forget Dissidia and FF13. :-P
3.2 is a bad patch. It introduces an amount of content roughly similar to the amount of content you find in the Wailing Caverns instance.. And even that is an overstatement. Which is by far and wide not even nearly enough to call it a patch, really. There are only 8 armor sets, as opposed to 10, if they would have made a unique one for each class. There's only 1 big room which is supposed to be a big important raid instance. And the list goes on. The class balance is completely gone, has been since TBC. The devs don't even care about that anymore, they've taken the easy way out by homogenizing the classes, making them all basically the same. The ridiculous obsession with PvP destroyed the actual game itself.... Especially arena. Not to mention the biggest problems with this patch, being that for example a normal 5-man dungeon drops ilvl 200 items..... The game's easy street. 3.2 just cements the fact that Blizzard doesn't care about making a game anymore, they only care about making the majority who plays the game happy. Sadly, the majority doesn't care about playing the actual game, it cares about the loot and the instant gratification.
Looks good but stuff takes so long to get if your 80 and need gear pretty much need to have no life and play at least 5 hours to get anything done with raids and all, think i rather go to the bar with friends and have a life instead of investing 5 hours everyday getting items in some game.
