@AzitiS I realize that no matter what happens, there will be people like you to complain in unison with every other bandwagon goer on the move. Always people to complain about change. Luckily, not everyone is like you. Hence the reason why we have indoor plumbing.. and video games. Let's just get one thing straight.. Kung Fu Panda came out a good six years after Warcraft 3. What does that have to do with anything, you might ask? Well.. Where do you think Pandarens originated? It was a simple April Fool's joke that many people desired to see more of. They were actually considering releasing Panda people in Burning Crusade.. deciding against it, of course. Also, let me point something else out to you.. while you read this comment, why don't you take a look at the bottom left corner. See "Games you may like..."? Take a look at them.. Starcraft II: HoS.. Diablo 3.. Battlefield 3 etc..Looks to me like they are games appealing to a fairly mature audience.. I certainly don't see Leapster 2 in there. :) WoW will never be a children's game. Ever. So just get the notion out of your head and find a valid argument. Perhaps you can huddle up with your anti-change bandwagon and come up with one? Right..

Take a flythrough of the upcoming Mists of Pandaria dungeon, Temple of the Jade Serpent.
i bet this is gonna be the most beautiful expansion of wow. most fun quests, most balanced and overall interesting. i dont really know whats my stand point about all this arguing about pandas being a part of wow. but when i think about it - it somehow doesnt feel right... and is the first expansion im not going to buy.
@AzatiS hmm. you have a valid argument. Perhaps I have not know as much as you do, and may have jumped the gun too early. I get where you're coming from, some narratives resonate my own sentiments. and yes, the panda thing is getting old haha. And yes, you yourself has realized that the kind of capitalistic logic blizz is employing by appealing to the 'eastern' narrative and introducing something 'new' all over again. Well, its re-used ideas as you mentioned. And yes, I did praise wow once, but yea, we all grew tired of it. My nails were chipping off as I hit keys repeatedly trying to beat the lag :P haha. those were the days. Glad thats over. BF3 took over atm :D
@min82 I understand exactly what you mean. People who dont know me can jump to conclusions im WoW hater. I was beta tester ,3 years hardcore , played all expansion , quit 4 times but i found me in wow in each expansion at least for a year or so. I praised WoW like no other mmorpg and im still admit wow is the most well done mmorpg todate. People jump on me as asian hater , or lacking knowledge as an argument.. Nothing of these are true. period. I love asian more than anyone,i assure you of that. So all in all there is a reason why blizzard bring kung-fu panda in. Appeal to biggest PC market and bring in newcomers ( young audience ). And for people that bypass the truth.. Pandaren = panda and monk = kung fu so here is your kung fu panda.Cant you see any similarities? And i bet we gonna see a big kung-fu tiger as a boss somewhere. Quote me on this. As you said min82 and you are totally right. Most veterans like me will jump to other games , GW2/D3 for me , SW:TOR for others , Torchlight2/TERA. So i strongly beleive this was Blizzards move to introduce an "eastern" WoW version to the BIGGEST PC MARKET on the planet with 85million PC sales in 2011 alone.China. Does that mean i should i like it? NO!! As i was the one praised WoW like no other game , im the one that dissing it right now. This is a 100% unbiased opinion. If some people dont like my opinion ,its fine. Everyone have their opinions , so do i Sorry for my wall of text. See ya buddy
@AzatiS hello. well, sorry. Typo :) its GW. I played it, and it seemed almost an exact replica of the first GW's expansion. The environmental elements, the 'kung-fu' ish animations... quite unoriginal :( but apparently, wow is desperate to get the players back in, even when cata is still new. Totally understand their dillemma, so I guess, blizzard has got its work cut out. But I reckon once diablo 3 comes out, there might be migration from wow to some degree. But all of these are just assumptions :) But I quit wow after cataclysm cause, I just felt, its so much of a grind. Well, too much. Its really hard to get good gear as well.
@supersimi If someone doesnt have the same taste and opinion as you over something means he lacks character? Well done!! Now back to my point. I dont care if they mention egyptian or UFOs in Warcraft 1 or 2 or 3. All im seeing is a rip off Kung fu panda wow version. This has nothing to do with warcraft . Period. Even if "pandas" mentioned in oldschool warcraft titles doesnt make this expansion any good. Because you seem to try to diss me by bypassing 2 facts you cant even imagine i bet. Let me teach you some marketing. 1) China is becoming the biggest PC market in the world. more than 80million PCs estimated will sale in 2011 alone , more than 25% of worldwide sales 2) Kung fu panda was a very successful movie which will attract many NEWCOMERS ( aka 14-16-17 years old kung fu panda fans ). All in all the issue here is not if pandaren existed in lore but how pandaren introduced in game. Before you ever talk to me about "character" think the obvious. @Egotte Because pandaren are part of Warcraft lore i cant beleive youll have a kung fu panda tanking Arthas and hit him in a bruce lee fashion... And call that epic like WoW used to be even in Cata. I like asians more than you imagine. But is WAY OFF for WoW lore/world. Thats my opinion pals , you like it or not. Your problem.
@Egotte true that. I concur on that. But the asiatic theme going on seems to be a propagation from Guild wars 2... maybe.
@AzatiS So because you don't remember it, you're automatically correct? I think you need to do your homework or listen to the developers before attempting to make a valid statement.
@AzatiS As far as I can make out, we should separate what WoW IS and what Warcraft I,II,III WERE. From a strictly cultural and philosophical point of view, WoW is one of the greatest depictions of most of the worlds mythologies and cultures. Everything from Amerindian to Celtic to Japanese to Egyptian is included in the game. From that standpoint, adding one of the most beautiful and oldest cultures and mythos' seems like a no-brainer. You think this is different of what WoW is and is supposed to be? You have no idea what WoW stands for. Anyway, people will always fear the unknown, it's in their nature. But seeing beauty where there is plenty requires more character.
@egotte I dont ever remember a chinese soundtrack chinese continent chinese kung-fu panda race chinese look/play monk class chinese names and looks/dungeons So enough with this excuse of "pandaren were part of WC3 universe"... Thats NOT the issue here...! The delivery of this new race and continent and how looks/plays is totally OFF of what WoW is/supposed to be. period Now if some people like you , like this. Fine by me. Good for you. But when 75% of people thinks this looks ridiculous , dont try to defend it anymore. Something is totally OFF. As if this games copies kung fu panda movie or nore , ILL TALK when ill see a big kung fu tiger as a dungeon/raid BOSS. And i would love to hear the defenders once again
@min82 Blizzard reeking of Kung-Fu Panda is entirely wrong. There's too much ignorance about the Pandaren and how they've actually been part of Blizzard's lore for at least a decade. This is something they've waited to implement into the game, and Chris Metzen noted at Blizzcon that the company originally intended for Pandaren to be the Alliance race in Burning Crusade, but took on the radical choice in the Draenei, instead.
sigh. Blizzard is so unoriginal in this character creation. It wreaks of Kung-fu panda, and the environment is that captured from Guild Wars's first expansion. But honestly, with guild wars 2 knights of the old republic mmo and other similar ones coming out, Blizzard has to pull all sorts of stunts to ensure the survival of the wow franchise. But as we all know, all good things must come to an end :P
Man WOW looks so good these days.....even though I told myself I would never play the game again after my account was hacked :(
