A highly underrated classic for the Sega Genesis

Disney has had a rather unusual track record where video games are concerned. Mostly their games have induced groans from the unsuspecting kids whose well meaning parents purchased it for them. World of Illusion is one of the few positive marks on Disney's video game resume. The game tossed its hat into the crowded platformer genre of the day and while it was fun and challenging, what really set it apart was the co-op. The game allowed two players to guide Disney's flagship characters, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, through diverse, vibrant renditions of classic Disney locations. Players were often forced to find a way to help each other at many points in the game to solve puzzles and so progress the level, as opposed to simply taking turns trying to complete a level or, well, being Tails. This idea was well ahead of its time and was exceedingly well implemented, which, adding to the charming soundtrack, wonderful visuals, and great gameplay and design, makes this game one of the all time greats for the Sega Genesis.
