Every so often a unique game graces the shelves that doesn't define gaming as we know it, but it does do something interesting that deserves commendation. World of goo is a creative and ambition game that can quickly burn away hours and leave you twitching to get a perfect score on it.

The games plot it vague and confusing, but amusing at the same time. The plot covers four seasons in the world of goo, and objectives and some back story are told through 'the sign painter' signboards. It seems the poor gooballs are made into products by the world of goo corporation.

The curious good balls, with your help, build towers to get to pipelines and access new locations. With the concept is relatively simple, the excecution is not. At the end game it becomes more challenging, and if you try to get OCD (a ranking for a better score) you have to spend untold hours figuring out where to precisely place goo structures in order to save enough, use as few turns as possible, or finish withing a time limit. The game world obeys the laws of physics very well. Sufficed to say, the gameplay is fun for all ages.

Visually the game comes off as artistic as opposed to technical.
The goo balls emote when you select them, the background demands admiring and the world itself is charming in a way. I suppose it could be intentional, given how frustrating repeating the same area can be at times.

The music is appropriate for the game, as well as enjoyable at times. Though the goo balls say the same four or so incoherent replies, it is hard to count them as a plus, but their emotes never wear on the nerves. The sound effects in reply to everything from falling to the death of the goos is brilliant.

World of goo will take a few hours to complete, and even longer to perfect. It's definitely worth looking into for anyone who wants to try something new, or someone who enjoys realism and artistic appearances. In short, this game just sticks to you.
