Crisp first person shooter game with flawless combat & superb level designs & 18 hours of shooting.

User Rating: 9 | Wolfenstein: The New Order PC

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a beautiful first person shooter at heart that gives you the satisfaction of every bullet you fire & brings in the old shooting mechanics with modern age graphics. The guns are excellently designed and make sweet sound on impact. Guns can be dual wielded and fire with precision. There are health packs here & no regenerating health, which is a good thing.

What makes Wolfenstein stand out in the FPS genre is the excellent level designs & constant variations along with different kinds of enemies that make the game a real challenge. Mechanized soldiers with super armor, rocket troopers, commanders & dogs with armors to regular sentries etc are some of the various enemies you face in this game.

You star as Blazkowics, a stud with immense hate for Nazis & when he wakes up to see the world conquered by them in the aftermath of the 2nd World War, he goes all out to make sure every last Nazi is killed. The story is brilliant & makes you want to just go and kill every last Nazi scum. The game tries very hard to deliver on the story front and associate it with the in-game combat. Graphically, its a beautiful world, although there is not much to explore since you will be following a linear path put in front of you. Basically all the levels involve run and gun. The level design is what makes this game standout. Particularly one level on the Lunar Base (Moon). I stood for about 5 minutes just admiring the surface of moon & the valleys around it.

In the last levels or so, the game just thrown countless enemies for you to kill & certain scenarios become very difficult & I found myself dying again & again. It challenges you & the game tends to become a bit difficult as it progresses. I played on 'Hard' difficulty. Although the killing can be become repetitive sometimes & just when you think its the same, the scenario changes over or you are presented with different enemies to kill.

This game is definitely worth every bit & the campaign lasts for over 18 hours which is well worth it. The satisfactory sound of gun firing and the impact on the Nazis & the subsequent blood spatter is sheer brilliant.
