..have other great FPS games today. Wolfenstein3D isn't much to look at or play these days.. 12 years ago when it was released however, it was all the rage. Running through tight corridors, killing Nazis with a knife, pistol, machine gun or the minigun was a lot of fun. Running around, killing Nazi's, finding keys and trying to find all secrets while collecting the treasures lying around was so addictive i played this game over and over and over. Todays games don't have the replay value of the old classic FPS games. This was the earliest FPS game i can remember, with Doom coming out not to long after. This is what spawned all the clones (Doom, DoomII, Duke3D, Shadow Warriorer, WWII GI, Blakestone).. there are soo many FPS games that came out slightly improving certain areas and adding new features. Wolf3D was controlled by using the arror keys on your keyboard, space bar for opening doors and CTRL was to shoot. There was no jumping or crouching (introduced in Duke3D), there was no rocket launchers (introduced in Doom), there was no strafing or leaning or any of the other features we take for granted in todays FPS games. We have come a long way in 12 years. It's hard to imagine how i used to play Wolf3D and now im playing games with far better graphics, features and now we use the mouse. Instead of using 6 keys on the keyboard, we now have the majority of keyboard keys set to do something, weather it be leaning, using a jetpack, turning on a flashlight or yelling commands at team mates. We have come a long way in FPS gaming and Wolf3D was the one that started it all off. Definatly a classic game, was awesome for it's time in every way. The game left a lasting impression on me, like it would have done to many other gamers around the world. Wolf3D.. a classic game which will be remembered in our hearts forever.
