Although graphically enhanced, Wipeout Pulse fails to conform to its beloved gameplay.

I own Wipeout Pure and have played it for many hours. I especially like the 'hovering' anti-gravity ship flow. It gave a great sense of futuristic driving. People complained about that, mentioning that it's difficult control, not comprehending the fact that THAT is how futuristic driving should be.

Wipeout Pulse came to 'fix' that issue, making the ships semi-adherent to the ground, taking out the 'hovering' effect that made its previous installment so lovable. Even air-brakes are now extremely easy to control -- what's good about that? Now, you feel like you're driving a Honda Civic car.

Second thing; the tracks. They definitely look better, but doesn't anyone notice they're pretty far from being futuristic-looking? There's a bit of future sci-fi in it, but not as heavily as in the original which 'breathed' future with its numerous LCD screens scattered throughout the tracks.

So I daresay that Wipeout Pulse is a disappointment, especially to Pure's fans. Graphics, music, and infrastructure do not make up for that critical modification that simply changed Wipeout from a futuristic racing game into Need for Speed or the like.
