For a long time EA and Konami have been going at it. However, this year PES is more of a winner as a pose to a rival.
Many people wonder “FIFA or PES” nevertheless this year Konami has strengthened there attempt to be a competitor against EA's dominating series. By making Pro Evolution soccer Konami has raised the bar for sports titles on the PSP, and made the title that best represents a real match of football. First off the graphics are absolutely amazing. The players look next gen quality and very realistic. Fields and balls look great to. However, the greatest improvement over FIFA are the physics. They look a whole lot more real. The players actually look like humans when they run, and the frame rate holds up really well.
The game is fun and really challenging. It has a few good control schemes which should allow player to find one that they adapt to well. Game never get boring because the game is very challenging, and you probably won't be winning 6-0 too often. Though playing is fun there aren't too many modes. The game does feature a few team managing modes, but none of them come close to what EA has developed in the past two years in their manager mode.
The sound is quite mediocre. This is mainly because it lacks a few things. There is no commentary, so during the match you will only hear cheering and kicks to the ball. Also there is no licensed sound track. In the menus there are just a few poorly mixed songs that quickly get annoying.
Though FIFA has seemed to dominated even after the release of previous PES games, this year Pro Evolution soccer seems to dominate. Though it lacks modes it is the best at simulating a match of football and has excellent graphics. It doesn't have terrific sound but it is an awesome game. 8.1 out of 10
