Punch-Out enters ring May 18

Nintendo updates Wii and DS release lists, tagging dates to boxing revamp and New Play Control line; Excitebots, Legendary Starfy announced.

As the publisher is wont to do, Nintendo today rattled off the plethora of games coming to its best-selling hardware in the next few months. Along with reaffirming a number of release windows, the publisher provided more specific dates on a few of its key first-party and third-party titles.

On the Wii, May 18 will see the arrival of Punch-Out, the long-awaited remake of the classic NES boxing game, with Glass Joe getting a current-generation graphical makeover. In June, Sega will deliver two titles that have generated a measure of buzz: High Voltage's first-person shooter The Conduit and Let's Tap, the cardboard-box-based rhythm game from Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka.

Nintendo also attached dates to a number of titles in its New Play Control line, which adds motion controls to classic GameCube games. Namely, both New Play Control Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis are due March 9, with Donkey Kong Jungle Beat following on May 4. The publisher also used the opportunity to announce Excitebots: Trick Racing, a Wii Wheel-compatible racing game that serves as an extension to the Excitebikes and Excite Truck family of racers.

Most notably on the DS, Nintendo said that it would be bringing The Legendary Starfy to the US for the first time on June 8. Developed by Tose, the action platformer was originally released in Japan for the Game Boy Advance in 2002.

It turned out to be pretty good. Not as stellar as all the reviews say (it only took me 2 days to unlock everything and achieve all medals) but still much better than I had expected.

I seriously hope the end product is more than just this...
Who decided to ruin punch-out with this half-assed lazy looking garbage? And I'm not referring to the graphics.

PS for all of the people saying they're looking forward to "New Play Control!!" games like Pikmin and Donkey Kong Jungle beat, are you kidding? Have you even read the story?? I quote from the above article:

"[Nintendo's] New Play Control line... adds motion controls to classic GameCube games"

In other words, these are just re-hashed games from GameCube! Man-o-man... at first it was just 3rd parties making rehashes of games that have been out on other systems (but with worse graphics) such as Dead Rising, but now even Nintendo themselves are rehashing games!

Everyone should be disgusted. If Nintendo is that LAZY and doesn't want to make NEW games, why wouldn't they just release a motion control system for the GameCube instead of making people shell out hundreds of dollars for a system and accessories?! And what about the people who already owned those games for GC who'll have to re-purchase it just for the controls (even though other things like graphics will be virtually the same)? Oh right, money.
    It's sickening.

Its so good to see Punch Out, that will be one of the best for the wii (i hope so), and about the long long list of the wii games, we see a lot of "new control..." nice nintendo you are going to release games previosly releleased for the NGC, but in the list we see maybe 2 or 3 good games, as the conduit, and the others, dance dance revolution?? garfield??? hanna montana??? (she is hot but not for the games or the tv show) fritz chess????????????????????? we are going to play chess with the wii mote??????????????????????????????? thats absoluty stupid, its a shame that i see in the list a chess game, i like the chess, but chess for wii?????? the wii has the best control of all the consoles, you can do everything, but chess???????? i am loosing like a 100 bucks of the wiimote for a stupid chess game, men, that absoluty sucks

This game might make me shell out the $$ for a Wii. I mainly want one for their first party games like Metroid, Zelda, and Mario. Spend 249 for a Wii or buy my girlfriend a birthday present? Ah, I'll buy her the Wii.

You can't say anything about a game unless you try it. One game that was problary lowest selling and all of you thought was bad got a Gamespot award, it was also rated 9.5.

Thank god for Call of Duty: World at War. I only care about the Wii list and after looking at it the only game I will buy is The Conduit. - it better not suck!

By the way, who do you fight at the end of Punch Out if it isn't Mike Tyson? That will be the only suprise of the game.

    Punch-Out
    The Conduit

Those ^^^^ are the only games on that list I'm really interested in.

    Let's Tap
    Boom Blox Bash Party

    Those ^^^^ I'm curioius about.

That's not a lot to get excited about. It's funny that I'm looking forward to playing New Play Control Pikmin 2 more than most Wii games. Pretty telling really.

Oh gee wiz! Mommy, can you buy me "petz fashion:dogz and catz" and "Jelly Belly Ballistic Beans" please please please! *sigh* Who would buy these and actually enjoy them for more then 1 hour? The only one I would RENT on this list is Punch-out. You got to love this one, " Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball - (WII)." What kind of retarded monkeys they got making this crap? What ever happened to a little thing I like to call quality? If games like this just keep popping up, we're gonna have another "video game crash".
