NewsSpots: Naruto, Test Drive, Duck Hunting, MS exec on Home

Namco's anime game is returning to PS2, Atari's driving game gets new rides, wildlife shooter heads for Wii, and Microsoft's Shane Kim takes a swipe at Sony's online service.

Naruto strikes June 12
Namco Bandai has announced today that Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 will be sneaking onto the PlayStation 2 June 12. Ultimate Ninja 2 picks up where the first game in the series left off and will follow Naruto and his cohorts through the anime's storyline. The game also packs in an original story as well as several other gameplay modes, including a two-player duel mode.

Test Drive Unlimited hits fourth gear
Atari has been updating Test Drive Unlimited's garage with new rides to cruise the mean streets of Oahu, Hawaii. This month sees seven new rides added to the cavalcade, including the Dino 246 GT, Ferrari Challenge Stradale, Cadillac Cien, RUF RK Spyder, Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster, TVR T440R, and Saturn Curve. Of those, the Saturn Curve is free for download.

Ultimate Duck Hunt coming to Wii, snickering dog not included
Gamers pining for a Wii update to the original Nintendo Entertainment System light gun game now have some solace on the horizon in Ultimate Duck Hunt, from upstart publisher Detn8 Games. Trading in the NES Zapper for the Wii Remote, players will brandish name-brand weapons, camo gear, and other tools of the trade, accompanied and assisted by a trainable, and presumably less sardonic, Labrador retriever. Encompassing four modes of play, Ultimate Duck Hunt is set to unleash the hounds in July.

Microsoft VP takes shot at Sony Home
As corporate VP of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim isn't in this business to play nice with the competition. In a recent interview with Shacknews, Kim expressed his skepticism of competitor Sony Computer Entertainment's upcoming Home online service. "I doubt [Sony's] ability to implement it and execute it in a really rich and compelling way," he said. Kim goes on to say that Xbox Live is more appealing to gamers because it was built around gaming features, and the social aspects of it have been layered on to that preexisting infrastructure.

I thought that the Wii "Ultimate Duck Hunt" actually had something to do with the Classic "Duck Hunt" on the NES. This games looks HORRIBLE! Oh well, rednecks rejoice!

I like the idea of all Jeff supporters changing their icons to a Jeff pic...

    Viva la Jeff!

I have to agree a bit with Shane Kim. Sony's Home project has some compelling features, but it is a very ambitious effort that will attempt to leapfrog what everyone else in the field has done to date. And Sony's track record with add-on software isn't stellar (PSP firmware upgrades notwithstanding).

On another note, will Ultimate Duck Hunt be the same game without the snickering dog?

Pickle please! Once sony's home comes out, the only question that's going to be asked is why did they even try.(sony's going to be in a pickle once Halo 3's )

That was a pretty harsh punch by MS but it actually may be true seeing Sony's rather unstable record regarding the PS3.

And what about the Naruto game for the Wii? It was announced almost a year ago and we have seen nothing about it for months other than some concept art released last year. I think a Naruto game on the Wii would rock!

Microsoft can talk all they want. They must've also built Windows to be appealing to users. Ok. They're just getting desperate because they know that Home will be a breakthrough considering all the features it's going to have. They're just depending on Halo 3 right now.

LOWJ000>If someone talks stuff about Nintendo (sony or MS), they just take it. I'm not sure how far back NIntendo has been doing that, but when Sqeenix left Nintendo for Sony, Squeenix tried to pull other companies to support the PS and being negatively on Nintendo.

I honestly don't think Duck Hunt will do well. I loved the originaly Duck hunt because of the light gun. Being able to do something that is a little more complex on a simple system was really cool.
But the only way I would actually get this game would have to be using a similar way instead of using the wiimote, because there was no aiming at all when I played the duckhunt-esque game on Wiiplay.

And to let you guys know, PS3 isn't doing so hot. I mean, they are still making games for the PS2.

Sony_FanBoy, I totally agree with you, Sony and MS should stop attacking their competition verbally and focus more on creating the unique, innovative and fun experiences that the gamers want online and off. It seems that only Nintendo has learned to focus their attention on what they want for there console, though they should start bringing games online by now.

jonfigs, "Some of the Sony FB's need to look up the Blueray statistics. While Blueray is beating HdDVD in market share... compared to DVD its a joke. Who is really buying Blueray or HdDVD movies at this point? Come on people you all paid for technology that you dont want, or need."

Don't tell people what they want or need, that's not your decision to make, I'm so tired of that lame arguement... your opinion isn't everyone else's any it's lame of you to say make it out like it is. And to people who say live is cheap and that all you have to do is save a little money... well that's really all you have to do for the PS3, if you get live every year that it's out it will end up costing you at least $200 just for a service, that' amounts to at least 4 games... so really the PS3 is no more expensive than the 360 if you get live, not saying that everyone should or has to, I'm just saying it balances out, PSN is totally free so you never have to spend money for a service that you really don't have to pay for... it's not like Xbox couldn't make live free... they just don't... which is why I hate when people say $50 dollars is worth it for the better online... I highly doubt it that MS needs to charge $50 for live... case in point PSN, it has less features but the online play is superb.

It seems like Sony isn't "verbally assualting" Microsoft anymore and for good reason, their letting their actions speak for them. Anyway, I think both services are going to compete and strongly. It's Microsoft and Sony, there's no way their going to turn a blind eye to each other. In my opinion Sony and Microsoft need to focus more on their machines and work to make their machines better. Microsoft stop attacking Sony verbally and Sony don't start back up with verbally attacking Microsoft.

"What I don't get is why PS3 fanboys use the fact that PSN is free make it seem like a big advantage,,
Last I remember, $50 a YEAR isn't all that much, I was makign that at 14, 'n now I'm 18 'n it's not a problem. $50 a year is like a few $$'s out of my paycheck. I really don't see how hard it is to make that much money a year fi you can afford a gaming console in the 1st place.

Anyways, @ Kenaue the PS2 didn't really have any real competitors at its time. The Xbox came out too late, and alot of developers were behind the PS2. Now things have changed. Alot of developers are behind the 360 'n the 360/Wii are both good competitors to the PS3.

I don't want anyones console to fail, but I do get a lil smile whenever I see something good for my 360. The PS3 might be cool, but it's deff not worth the $600 it is right now. Not right now, not that much, not yet.
Take that how you wana, but it's fact."

$50 would be a small price to pay if I didn't have other things to actually pay for. I am in HS, and marching band. Every year, we have a $500 declining balance. I can't get a job because band absorbes all of my time. I do agree that Xbox Live is better. It feels more complete. But, I am a Sony guy, always was. When the PS came out, I was all over it. When the PS2 came out, I dropped my N64 in favor of it. And when the time comes, I will sell my 360 in favor of the PS3. I enjoyed most of the launch titles. I even enjoyed Genji and Untold Legends. I use my 360 for Gears, Halo and Oblivion, which are all excellant games. It really depends on what you prefer. The 360 has a really good game selection, and, in a year or so, so will all the other consoles. Until we can truely debate about what is better, we have to wait until all the systems have a fair amout of excellent games. Personally, I really can't wait for Ratchet, Uncharted, FF XIII, LAIR, God of War 3 (whenever the heck it will come out.), and plenty of others. It is also the fact I can play almost all of my PS2/PS1 games on it.
