The BIGS to swing on Wii

Take-Two's baseball game will take advantage of Nintendo console's motion-sensing controls for batting, pitching, running, and fielding.

Like golf and tennis, baseball is a sport with mechanics that lend themselves quite naturally to Nintendo's motion-sensing console. However, with Wii Sports thus far offering the only take on the sport, it's yet to be seen how more realistic representations would fly. Today, Take-Two Interactive has answered that question, and it would seem everyone's best guess was the right guess.

For its first officially licensed larger-than-life arcade-style baseball game, 2K Sports offered a quick-and-dirty rundown of how The BIGS would play. Batting and pitching will both be controlled by movements that mimic realistic motion, though buttons will factor in to mixing up your pitches while on the mound. Conversely, running bases and fielding balls will require the Nunchuk in addition to the Wii Remote, where the former will use a drumming motion and the latter involves pointing in your intended direction to make plays worthy of a highlight reel.

Set for release this summer, The BIGS will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and, of course, the Wii.

running seems tacked on, and some of the controls will be as well. hopefully a game built from the ground up for the wii has great controls, as it should

How fun will this be? Beats me. I hope it does better than Wii Sports Baseball, but that's going to be difficult to beat. Why? It's Nintendo, geesh.

Looks fun. I've been waiting to see how a realistic baseball game would play on the Wii. Now how about some Wii hockey?

Hey Dmastor Go play Xbox 360 and sit on your fat ass! meanwhile great concept and creativity to bring a good start to a baseball game on the Wii, sad thing is that the gameplay is going to be fun as @##&#&#! , but graphically I heard it looks like its on par with a xbox (1) 2k sports display, but Im still getting this one! It would hurt if this didn't have online

Looks liek quite a fun game, the arcade style gameplay kind of reminds me of the NHL Hitz series of games. I might look into this one.
