The BIGS to swing on Wii
Take-Two's baseball game will take advantage of Nintendo console's motion-sensing controls for batting, pitching, running, and fielding.
Like golf and tennis, baseball is a sport with mechanics that lend themselves quite naturally to Nintendo's motion-sensing console. However, with Wii Sports thus far offering the only take on the sport, it's yet to be seen how more realistic representations would fly. Today, Take-Two Interactive has answered that question, and it would seem everyone's best guess was the right guess.
For its first officially licensed larger-than-life arcade-style baseball game, 2K Sports offered a quick-and-dirty rundown of how The BIGS would play. Batting and pitching will both be controlled by movements that mimic realistic motion, though buttons will factor in to mixing up your pitches while on the mound. Conversely, running bases and fielding balls will require the Nunchuk in addition to the Wii Remote, where the former will use a drumming motion and the latter involves pointing in your intended direction to make plays worthy of a highlight reel.
Set for release this summer, The BIGS will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and, of course, the Wii.
