Shaun White Snowboarding to Wii World Stage

Ubisoft's carrot-topped Olympian returns with Nintendo console-exclusive extreme sports title this holiday.

As part of its earnings announcement in late April, Ubisoft said that its new sports franchise Shaun White Snowboarding had sold 3 million units. That number was moderately surprising, given that critics gave a cold shoulder to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC editions of the game.

Today, Ubisoft announced that the better-reviewed Wii edition--which the publisher said had a "very strong showing"--will see a sequel. Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is expected to arrive exclusively for Nintendo's top-selling console during the 2009 holiday season.

Ubisoft did not indicate whether other platforms would see a separate installment in the Shaun White Snowboarding franchise this year and had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

Details on the Olympic Gold Medalist's newest tribute title remain largely under wraps, with Ubisoft saying only that players will trek across the globe--from New York to Japan--competing in high-profile competitions. Ubisoft noted that additional information concerning the title will be offered during its 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference, which will take place June 1 at 5 p.m. PDT. GameSpot will be blogging and offering a live video stream from the event, hosted by The Soup's Joel McHale.

Along with announcing the game, Ubisoft also opened up the game's official Web site.

I use the balance board to have fun, not to work out. Maybe if you stopped thinking "wii fit" everytime you hear about it, maybe you'd be able to enjoy it.

Anyways, using the balance board for SWSB Road Trip was a blast and I can't wait for this one. I would really like an ssx style game though for the balance board.

SWSB road trip was a great game. I don't know what is up with the complainers. Why didn't you leave reviews for the game? The user score for the game at amazon is 4.5 out of 5.

I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but I don't need more of this crap, what I need is 1080. Give me 1080 Nintendo, or die.

wonderful ... state the game is selling great, then market to a completely different segment of people ... nobody i know will get a wii if they own a PS3or 360 ... have fun Ubi im sure it will sell billions but just know, its only because there are a billion ignorant children with parents, who have wiis.... the game itself wont deserve the sales.
