Eight EA Sports games Wii-bound

EA Sports president says that new IP game announcements will be coming in two months.

Peter Moore, the former vice president of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division, and now president of EA Sports, started his personal blog around a month ago, and he seems to be getting the hang of it.

Today he used the platform to tell the world that eight Wii games were currently in development at EA Sports. He explained, "[This is] testament both to the global impact of that console currently in the global marketplace, as well as to our desire to attract more consumers to experience EA Sports games, no matter what their experience playing games nor their prowess with a traditional controller."

He also answered a variety of questions that he'd been asked by various people, and stated that an announcement about some new EA sports intellectual property that would be coming in about two months. "I'm encouraged by the interest and excitement," he said. "As I've said many times over the past few months, as EA Sports looks to expand our brand and capture new audiences, developing new intellectual property--such as Facebreaker and future unlicensed titles--will be a key component of that strategy."

Yes! I hope more sports games come out for Wii, like NASCAR, NHL, and the Streets series. I won't mind another baseball game either. But please improve NBA 2008 because the last one blows hard.

Ugh, Wii Family Play is made for just that, families, not the hardcore. Maybe it's cool for the little kid who wants to play Madden with his dad/older brother, but the hardcore shouldn't care. They're just trying to cash in. I doubt we'll see any real innovative or anything that even touches the console versions on a gameplay level, not even a graphical level. Though I would like to see a Wii game from EA that doesn't like like a Dreamcast game....

Please everybody stop and re-read all your negative EA posts. I keep reading things like:

"and EA is only interested in the Wii because of its popularity."

Why else would EA be interested in the Wii? Would you rather Moore come out and say: "Well even though the Wii is a gimmick and it's best game is a last-gen port, we at EA plan on supporting the console because we really appreciate the artistic direction Nintendo has chosen with their newest hardware."

Now what I just said about it being a gimmick is TRUE... another truth is the Wii is insanely popular and games for it make money. EA is a business. Businesses are supposed to make money, thus EA games on the Wii. Please, everyone get off of your darn soapbox and STOP CRYING ABOUT EA.

I dont really like EA. They are a big business company that use sports celebrities to market their games and yet their games are subpar. They were also reported by the news for not treating their employees fairly in terms of salaries and workload. I would rather pay good money on an innovative sports game like Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 by Konami than the old rehash this company spews every year.

I think these games will be more aracdey type of sports. Well, they don'r have to be but I think a semi-serious game that was somwhere in between NBA Street and NBA Live would be perfect. For golf they could fo 100% serious though. Well, Golf, Tennis and Baseball. Those in particular seem perfect for the Wii. Anything that involves a racket or some stick held in the hand.

For a title that came out early in the Wii's life-cycle, Madden was done really well the first time around. If they can apply those mechanics to other sports games I'll be pretty interested. And I don't even like football.

This could rock. While I have some issues with EA, them being one of the biggest publishers bringing titles to the Wii can actually be a good thing. I still don't have a Wii=(. I'm still rocking my GC. But the decision to go Wii is proving a good one. It's the ONLY console I'm even remotely interested in.
