What's the fastest way to grind?

Is there any fast way to level up real fast? I'm trying to level up to somewhere like 20 (is that overkill) for the Pit of 100 Trails, as well as the Flopside Version.

I tried the 1-1 trick, but when I jump on the projectile he shoots while I hold 2 riding Carrie at the same time, I keep falling off or am getting hit. Also don't get why the creature has to be underneath the block that the star came out of. And yes I own a PAL copy.

Also tried the Underground Crag level, I think it's a bit slow though...

If you check the cheats section of this site there is an effective way to gain EXP listed there. However, it was fixed for European and Austrlaian releases though if you read the "Level Up Tricks" section of the message board FAQ:

That contains a trickier but more effective way of gaining EXP.
