E3 '07: Nitrobike boosts onto Wii

Ubisoft bringing arcade racer exclusively to Nintendo's console this holiday season.

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Pokémon Battle Revolution first took the Wii online in June, but Wi-Fi-enabled games for the system are still few. During today's E3 Media and Business Summit, Ubisoft revealed it would be adding one more to that list.

The France-based publisher today announced it would be bringing the arcade-style Nitrobike exclusively to the Wii this holiday season. Far from realistic, the game has players racing on rocket-propelled motorcycles. It's not all online for Nitrobike, as the game will also feature a single-player time attack and competitive multiplayer racing on the same system.

Left Field Productions will be developing the game. No strangers to the motocross arena, Left Field developed Excitebike 64 for the Nintendo 64, and more recently brought MTX Mototrax to the Xbox, Playstation 2, and PlayStation Portable.

The Wii certainly has a lot going for it, Nintendo seem keen to show that they're no longer content to sit back in the shadows.

As soon as I saw that screenshot I thought "Excitebike 64." And sure enough, the last paragraph tells the tale. . .

Now I'm really confused. . .Why didn't Ninty simply work with Left Field for a straight up Wii Excitebike now, instead of going alone on Excite Truck for launch?

I agree with DouglasBuffone. I'm not sure if Ubisoft is capable of making a truly good game. They even managed to mess up a port of Prince of Persia by giving it awkward controls.

I think this will be good it is being made by the company that made Excite Bike 64 when they where with Nintendo, so it might be good it seems like the Spiritual Successor, since it is called Nitro Bike since they couldn't use the Excite Bike name.
Edit* I didn't read the other comments and it turns out other people wrote the same thing as me almost.
Edit2* I didn't read the end of the Article since it also says that.
