Shippin' Out February 18-22: The Club, FIFA Street 3

Small, balanced week of releases sees headliners joined by DS Apollo Justice, Wii Dragon Quest Swords, Dynasty Warriors 6 for 360 and PS3; N+ stalks XBLA, Ninja Gaiden III strikes VC.

Best known for its Project Gotham Racing series for Microsoft's Xbox 360, Bizarre Creations will be visiting the projects of another sort this week with The Club. The studio--which was bought outright by publishing powerhouse Activision in September--will be venturing into the underground world of organized crime with the help of Sega. The modern-day gladiatorial shooter will be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. A demo for The Club is currently available on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, as well as through GameSpot for PC users.

For gamers merely looking to channel their inner soccer hooligan, EA Sports will be passing off FIFA Street 3 this week after a two-year hiatus. Taking several cues from the recent NBA Homecourt brand of arcade b-ball, FIFA Street 3 takes to the tar with a stylized look and fields more than 250 pro footie stars drawn from 18 teams across the globe. In addition to versions on the Xbox 360 and PS3, EA will be targeting the mass market with a Nintendo DS edition. With Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War still fresh in many gamers' minds, Koei's Omega Force team returns with the final multiplatform release for the week with Dynasty Warriors 6 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Otherwise, gamers have a number of single-platform releases to anticipate. On the DS, Apollo Justice takes the courtroom floor from Phoenix Wright in the fourth edition of Capcom's Ace Attorney series. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, a Wii-exclusive action role-playing game from Square Enix, ventures out into the popular universe. Nintendo has a pair of greats from days gone by on its Virtual Console this week as well, with Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom available for 500 Wii points ($5) and Phantasy Star II docking for 800 Wii points ($8).

On the Xbox 360's virtual marketplace this week is Slick Entertainment's N+. Originally a browser-based action puzzler, N+ plays heavy to physics, ninjas, ragdolls, and ninjas. The game is currently slated to appear on the DS and PlayStation Portable later this year, but will be available on Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday for 800 Microsoft points ($10).

Thinking about getting Dragon Quest Swords... besides that not much else interests me. Apollo Justice I guess is a decent series. A couple VC games that might stir up a little nostalgia.

I can't wait for DW6. It'll be amazing. It's nice to see the series in action in full current-gen form. It's also going to have to hold me over until SW2: XL comes out.

I will be getting DW:6. I know people make fun of the series but if you get fun and enjoyment to a near endless amount then I say play it. Everybody has a game where no matter what the reviews and other people say they love it. Poeple have one or two movies like that 2 it seems.

I heard Dynasty Warriors 6 is bad, even by Dynasty Warriors standards. Shame too, those game have some sort of appeal to them, simple and addicting. The Club looks alright too, but reminds me of Shadowrun a game that does something okay but not enough depth to be worth buying. Isn't there only like 8 maps? Anyway I'll probably rent both.

The club is kinda fun. Played the demo. The singleplayer isn't that interesting, altough multiplayer is quite entertaining.

FIFA Street, along with NFL Tour, were both pretty mediocre by all accounts. Stay far away from those too. Also, the late ports of ProStreet and MX vs ATV shouldn't be looked at either. Given that the normal games haven't really been that good IMO.

Honstly, I think the Nintendo fans should pass on Dragon Quest, and pick up Apollo Justice from everything I'm hearing. Dragon Quest by all accounts looks and sounds pretty bad, though I've heard a lot of great things about the Ace Attorney games, a couple of which I've got too play. So pick that up.

If you've been interested in the last 10+ Dynasty Warriors games, I'm sure you'll like this. There have been so many games, remakes, spin offs, corroborations, hand held versions, etc to never stop playing these games.

Though this week, if you really want a new release, get The Club. Not a great game from what I hear, but a good one. And the demo was alright. I say give Bizarre a chance, help them prove they can do a shooter so they can move onto a great Bond game, which is what they're rumored to be working on next.
