Lara Croft raiding Wii Nov. 13

10th anniversary edition of iconic heroine's classic adventure hits Nintendo's console next month.

This week, Eidos is releasing to retail the Xbox 360 version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Although it typically doesn't take much for the buxom heroine to turn heads of her own accord, Eidos is capitalizing on the increased attention anyway by announcing that Wii gamers will have a chance to go hands-on with Lara Croft in Tomb Raider: Anniversary on November 13.

Similar to the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and PC versions already out, Crystal Dynamics' game is a fleshed-out version of the original Tomb Raider, which celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year. Bringing Lara into the 21st century, Crystal Dynamics is implementing the same engine used in last year's Tomb Raider: Legend. The Wii version will also feature fully integrated motion-sensing controls.

As with the Xbox 360 version, Tomb Raider: Anniversary is rated T for Teen and will retail for $39.99. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage and the review of the PS2 edition of the game.

they really need to release this before SMG or they won't make any money at all people can't afford to buy 2 games at once unless they're "must buy" kinda games and tomb raider isn't one of those, it's something you'd like to play but not a must have

Ah, a "new" game for a new system costing less than $50, (see Prince of Persia, everybody else gets it why didn't you?) I love the Wii. And now my Gamecube Tomb Raider Legend will have a companion.

This game should retail for $19.99. It's an old game and updating it a little and adding motion sensing controls don't make it a full retail game. Also, this HAS to have the "nude Lara" code sneaked in...

I can't imagine how motion controls will enhance this experience, but oh well

I think the Gamespot writers purposely wrote this article headline,{& others like it, with "trigger" words}, so at a passing glance, it'd look like it said, "riding", instead of "raiding", & thusly all us male gamers would of course click. This port may have gimmicky controls, & that's it. I'll be keeping tabs on this game, nonetheless. And you can always rest assured, every Lara Croft-centric article, will always have at least, 1 hormonally powered comment. But on the game itself, maybe it won't have less-than-par type controls, be they gimmicky, or not. A day after SMG? Maybe the 2 games will sell equally, because of both being popular franchises, & both being released virtually simultaneously. In any event, we'll all have to wait it out- it'll be out only in 19 days from now. I think TR is like Mario; they{Edios} only release one every few years, to keep the franchise alive. I don't think TR is virtually dead. But I could be wrong. I don't know.

If they do this well, I may pick it up. If not, I won't cry over another bad port.

Yup, good point, no wonder why those third-party publishers are not doing well, they are just porting games and expect people to buy them with no complaints ... meanwhile.. nintendo and few others are doing the real job.. at any rate, whoever is more serious will make more serious money .

ya know, Ive never played a tomb raider game before. I guess it'll finally be time to see what people have been talking about all these years.

windblade - Assasin's Creed isnt coming to the wii, as far as I know. the wii owners wont have to decide between the two, so its sales will go unaffected by that info

Dualmask your post is the exact reason why im still not wanting to pay 250 for a wii. Feels like Nintendo is the only one that can make perfect motion sensing.

I've bought this game over a decade ago, and still own it.

I do hope this turns out well, but I have a feeling this is just going to be another shoddy port with badly implemented motion controls. Having played it extensively enough, I can't imagine the motion sensing serving any particular purpose in the game. It doesn't really matter to me because I already have the PSP version, but I just hope the motion controls are some kind of benefit, just so the Wii can lose the bad port and bad 3rd party stigma.
