Call for Heroes goes out on Wii

Data Design Interactive picks up port of PC action RPG Pompolic Wars for release later this year.

Data Design Interactive is putting out a Call for Heroes. More specifically, the publisher today announced that it will be publishing a Wii version of the upcoming PC action role-playing game Call for Heroes: Pompolic Wars.

Call for Heroes drops players into a fantasy world that they must save from an interdimensional invasion force under the command of the demon Pompolic. The game will let players control one of two characters (each with unique weapons and abilities) and take "full advantage" of the Wii Remote for combat and spellcasting.

Call for Heroes: Pompolic Wars is scheduled for release on the Wii sometime in the fourth quarter of 2007, with a June launch expected for the PC edition.

Sounds like it has the potential to be pretty good, or incredibly bad in which people buy all the copies and burn them for a crude sacrifice to their dark WoW gods.

A game that appears on the PC and the Wii...there's a stretch for ya. The danger is that the Wii won't be powerful enough to handle the game, or the PC will get a watered-down port.

It will be interesting to see whether they can successfully bridge two tiers of gaming hardware.

This game looks like it will be great. As long as they keep the online MP functionality good.

They need to take the time they need to make this game online. I can easily see this game being a Wii best seller with online compatibility. A fantasy MMORPG for the Wii would be perfect.

...did anyone actually watch the trailers? This game looks absolutely horrible. No graphics, no animation...all it's got going for it is that it's an RPG of some sort. And even that much looks iffy right now.

I have nothing against the Wii. In fact, I love it, since it's the only gaming console I bothered to get. But...games like this will not help it much. I'd rather Blizzard went and ported Diablo II or Starcraft or Warcraft III over instead of this.

I hope it actually makes using the Wiimote fun....too many games come out specifically to undermine Miamoto's work and make the Wii a gimmick for motion sensitivity.

Damn, hope this game works. The reason the Wii isnt a gaming console as much as the others (I have a Wii and 360, love 'em both. 360 all the time, Wii at parties) is because everyone thinks of "how can we make it motion sensitive" instead of "how can we make this a fun video game"

"The game will let players control of two characters (each with their own weapons and abilities) and take "full advantage" of the Wii Remote for combat and spell casting."

The above statement translates to "we will implement horrible and unplayable controls on the Wiimote."
