Wii, 360 get Looney Tuned
Wise-cracking wabbit Bugs Bunny and company get their own adventure this fall; Acme Arsenal features mix of combat, puzzles, vehicle-based action.
An anvil dropped on the heads of gamers today as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the development of a new game based on the Looney Tunes cartoons. Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal is currently in development by Australian developer Redtribe, and is due out on the Xbox 360 and Wii this fall.
Acme Adventure will feature seven playable characters from the Looney Tunes cartoons, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Gossamer, Tasmanian Devil, and "a special secret character." The Xbox 360 version will support Xbox Live play, and the Wii version will make full use of the motion-sensitivity of the Wii Remote.
The action/adventure game will feature single-player or two-player cooperative modes, with gamers engaged in "fast-paced combat," puzzles, and vehicle-based action. Settings for the game include ancient Egypt, Mars, World War II, and Camelot.
A quick visit to Redtribe's Web site reveals that the game may also be coming to the PlayStation 2. On its list of games currently being developed, it lists "an innovative fast-pace action platform game for the 360, PS2, and Wii Platforms" accompanied with art that would suggest the game is Acme Arsenal.
In mid-December, Warner Bros. invested in SCi Entertainment Group, the parent company of Eidos. As part of the deal, Eidos got the rights to make games based on several WB properties, including Looney Tunes. However, it is unclear if Eidos will be involved with this project at all.
WBIE has not yet priced the game, nor has the ESRB rated it.
