Guilty Gear waggles to Wii, PS2

New publisher bringing Arc System Works' long-running fighting series to US this fall.

First sleuthed out in February, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core will be heading to the US on the Wii and PlayStation 2 this fall under the guidance of a new publisher, Aksys Games. Accent Core debuted in Japanese arcades last year, and has since seen a PlayStation 2 version hit the Land of the Rising Sun in May.

Arc System Works' latest XX installment further refines the Guilty Gear X2 formula, which itself is a refinement of the Guilty Gear X line of 2D fighters. Accent Core will feature a revamped fighting system that introduces three new gameplay mechanics, as well as new audio and visuals, and two fighters that had previously been seen only in Japanese iterations. In addition to support for the GameCube gamepad and Classic Controller, the Wii version will introduce motion-sensing controls for punching, kicking, and special attacks.

In nearly 10 years on the market, the Guilty Gear series has seen several different publishers, with Majesco handling the series' US installments in recent years. However, the Guilty Gear license appears to have fallen prey to that publisher's shift toward casual games, as Accent Core will be delivered courtesy of Aksys Games.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core has not yet been rated or priced.

I just bought it yesterday. I didn't see the online option on it. But for me, it doesn't matter.

I love that more and more publishers are making the Gamecube and classic controller an option for the Wii. I'm still pissed that you can't use those controllers on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Awesome. Guilty Gear is one of my favorite fighting series. Funny how it's not coming to the PS3...

I find it great that more and more studios also implement traditional controls for the Wii, on more difficult games to use motion sensing. Keep it up!

See, and it's times like this when I'm glad Nintendo offers a choice of controllers.

I've been playing the Japanese version consistently for the last month, and it's definitely the biggest jump in the series since XX (granted, Arcsy really needs to work on GG3 instead of crappy spin-offs like Isuka, Judgment, and Dust strikers)

Aksys has claimed that all bugs in the original console release will be fixed, and they're even accepting additional requests on their forums. I'll be getting the Wii version, since I'll likely want a pair of classic controllers sooner or later anyhow for VC. Only issue is that it may be more expensive, as Aksys has also claimed MSRP for the PS2 version will be $29.99 with no word on Wii pricing.

Anyone asking about a relation to Isuka: there is none. This game is the second upgrade of #Reload, which follows the standard vein of the series.

Interesting, my brother is a huge Guilty Gear fan, although he loves the original ones better. He's also biast though and only likes to play it on PS2.

Little kids are going to cry of frustration trying to play this game on their Wii remote.

I have Capcom vs Snk 2 for gamecube, nintendo needs to make an update for the Wii that will allow the classic controller to be played with previous fighting titles, but GG is still worth the buy

Guilty Gear X Advance was my favorite fighter on the GBA, it's also the only Guilty Gear I played as I never owned a PS2 and the one on DS got horrible ratings, hopefully this one will get me to buy it.

I love Guilty Gear but it has such a small fanbase that the game barely survives it has to be moved from publisher to publisher in an attempt to keep the franchise alive, hopefully these games sell, so the franchise can live.

cool, cube and classic controller compatable, gotta try the motion thing though. someone tell me it don't have the direction change button like isuka did, that totally runined the game.
