Wii Sports Resort follows expands on its predecessor Wii Sports by including more fun and more difficulty.

User Rating: 8.5 | Wii Sports Resort (w/Wii MotionPlus) WII
Wii Sports Resort certainly has appeal. The simplicity of the games make them very accessible to all but the most inept of players. However, if you are an avid gamer who wants to use this game as a sort of relaxing break from your normal gaming routine, beware! This game, whether used for single player or multi-player, is very easy to play, but to be a high achiever will take some work. If you are an avid gamer, this will be frustrating because you are not going to be able to master all things completely without investing a heavy amount of time.

The game itself consists of twelve mini games. These include: archery, basketball, canoeing, jet skiing, ping pong, skydiving, flying a small plane, water skiing, bicycling, swordplay, golf, and frisbee sports. Most of these have several game modes, such as sword play which has a duel mode, a speed slice mode, and a stage mode. Many have different difficulty levels, and also many of the mini games with stages require you to unlock stages beyond the initial 2-3. Nintendo has tried to further diversify the Wii Sports Resort experience by adding achievements, of which some are achieved without trying, and some are nearly impossible to achieve (ask those people who have spent countless hours on archery).

So, what are the strengths of this game. First, there is something for just about everybody. Second, it can be challenging. Third, the multi-player can be very fun.

Cons, you need a Wii MotionPlus for your controllers, which cost extra if you do not already have them. Also, it can be too difficult. To unlock everything someone is going to have to spend a decent amount of time playing the game. Most people do not anticipate any such experience based on the games predecessor, Wii Sports. Some of the mini games are a little difficult because of the controls. For example, the bicycling can be a blast, but half the challenge is just steering well around corners and other bikers. Then there is also the fact that some of the games are too simple. One of the plane games involves flying around the island the 'resort' is supposed to be on, looking for points of interest. Its slow. Within basketball there is a three-point shooting contest which involves flicking your wrist toward the basket and requires little finesse or skill once you figure out how simple it is. I don't want to classify any of these games as lame, because sometimes a simple no thought required game is just what I want....but that needs to be something you want for the experience to be enjoyable.

The bottom line is, if you own a Wii, you should probably have this title, because you will enjoy it. But, if you aren't a casual gamer don't spend too much on this title because the reward will not seem great enough for the price tag.
