Pretty much as good as a quiz show game can get

User Rating: 5 | Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: 1st Edition DS
It's quite hard to review gameshow based computer games. They usually involve simple question based formats, so the obvious thing to do on the DS is present the question, and you touch the answer using the touchscreen. One thing that is harder to recreate is the suspense and the atmosphere of the TV show. This game features the host Chris Tarrant, using the Act Imagine technology to render the video footage, so this game excels here. The phone a friend lifeline seems a bit disappointing. You have a choice of 4 people to phone, each with a small list of interests which don't seem to match the questions, and usually 2 of these people are kids; which is a bit unrealistic. From my experience, the phone a friend option was unreliable and the majority of the time, they didn't know the answer, even if you did the 50-50 beforehand. Another annoyance is that there is rarely an option to confirm your answer. Sometimes Chris asks "Is that your final answer?", but for the most part, he accepts what you click first time. On a few occasions I was rushing through the questions and I clicked the wrong answer only for the game to end. There are no extra features in this game, not even a leader board. You can play 2-player which only involves you passing the DS back and forth between questions. Overall, I'd say this game is good for what it's trying to do, but it can never be a great game.
