A game that missed to use his great potential!
My problem is that this Game really has some potential, and I am upset cause they didn't used it properly! At this point this is just an annoying, childish game, but it could have been more! Because it has features from GTA (like: driving all the cars in the City, hijacking them, smashing obstacles, shooting, exploring on foot and much more) this game could have been at least as good as GTA Series are! The Game starts good and I had great expectations: a girl is robing a Bank and you are the driver, waiting for her! But then tens of Police cars begin your pursuit and you must ram them all to destroy them! SOOO unrealistic, and while you drive you see that all the streets are already blocked like they were expecting you for ages, and so on... Everything happens quick (the story moves fast), you meet all the Mobsters in the City, disrespect them with every occasion, but they are all fine with that, and all like you from the start (probably you spieled a Charisma Bottle on you). If you don't know how to meet mobsters and become friends, you just follow Vin in this game. Of course you become the most important figure in the City soon, and this is also unrealistic. The fact that you shoot wage wars on the streets and the Police is sleeping like a Bear in Winter, is as well highly unrealistic. You can carry only a pistol and a secondary weapon at the time, and this reduces the fun level (but increases the realism at a point where realism was NOT needed)! A fact that this game follows GTA's trail is EVEN the name that Vin Diesel's character has: Milo Burik; this is way to similar to Niko Belik from GTA (the origin of the name and even the way it sings to our ears, right)? But it fails to go head to head with GTA cause it misses all the FUN from Grand Theft Auto and gives instead nerve-killing missions! You can't buy clothes or own apartments (I don't even know where I live) can't own a business, meet a friend for a drink or have a girlfriend! You also never drive boats or helicopters and the cars variety is pretty low! And cause you work for the Government you can't kill any civilians or cops that follow you (but you can shoot their cars and make them explode-that doesn't kill them?!?!?!) and even if killing innocent isn't the right thing to do in real life, in a game like this IT IS SO MUCH FUN!
And finally: THIS IS THE HARDEST AND MOST ANNOYING GAME IN THE LAST 5 YEARS!!! It has the two MOST ANNOYING features (that I taught gaming Industry passed them years a go) spamming enemy's until you either finish your mission or die trying. That was common in the 90's, but now in 2009 I taught it is long gone! And the other is that supra-realistic AI that doesn't let you finish a mission your way! Example: the cars following you go in front of you even if you go full throttle and they were waaaay behind. Or in that mission with the prison car hijacking, you can't do it too soon (even if you are behind it), and this 2 STUPID issues are scratching on your nerves mission after mission, after mission! I hope the guys who taught this 2 features are fun, loose their jobs and never be hired again in Gaming Industry! My brains are fried and smoking cause of them!
Ubisoft, please ask for my opinion in the next titles you release, cause the last ones all had potential, but something or someone's ruined them all! I will not charge you a cent! :(
