Fun game - lack of play-through and control issues marred it deeply

This is a fun game - jumping, sliding, bouncing off walls and bad guys in slow motion - there is no doubt that this could be a great game. The combination of having a sword and several different weapons is also nicely done. Add to this a great soundtrack, and a real retro 70s feel, and what more could you want?
How about better controls and the ability to actually play through some of the puzzle parts without having to die until the correct sequence comes.
This is the frustrating part of this game - the fact that you must repeatedly play through certain parts until you figure it out. There are on-screen prompts, but these are worse than useless. There is a particular issue with wall-jumping. You run the character along the side of a wall (which is a fun thing to do normally) and then you have to mash the correct button at the right instant. Not only that, but you must also point the camera either in the exact place that you want to launch your character too, or sometimes, in the exact opposite direction. This makes the game more than a little frustrating. As such, I would not recommend this game to anyone.
It's unfortunate that a company that has produced some of the best games in recent memory (Oblivion, Fallout 3) has fallen so short here. Perhaps this new ownership thing is really hurting them? After all, as of this writing, there is still no word on when the Fallout 3 DLC will becoming to the PS3.
But I'm supposed to focus on the game - there are parts that are a whole lot of fun, but the puzzle issues have ruined it (at least for me). I would recommend looking elsewhere before purchasing this particular title.
