Alot of Stranglehold, a dash of Prince of Persia and a great chunk of its own personality make Wet a great game.

Wet is relatively simple.
Some mercenary or hitman or whatever she is, the game doesn't make it exactly clear, named Rubi Malone basically gets played into letting something happen that she never wanted to take place so she goes on a revenge against those that used her.
The opening level sets up the rest of the story nicely and gives you the adrenaline filled gameplay that is Wet in a nutshell, a small taste of the awesome things to come.
The game will grow on you and you will like it more at the second half, mostly because hearing the sound of the default, unlimited ammo revolvers gets ear pearcing after a while.
Later on you earn more weapons that have their different uses and if you try to use all of them then the game feels much more rewarding.
You can't pick up ammo and guns from fallen enemies which is a bit of a bummer because sometimes you will find yourself out of ammo and having to resort to those annoying revolvers.
Why am I complaining about the revolvers? Because they take forever to kill a guy and because they sound really, really bad. They are not fun to use.
Wet is a few types of game modes, meshed together if you will.
Sometimes you will simply make your way through a level with a good variety of platforming, similar to Prince of Persia, and the shooting that largely resembles Stranglehold, but with it's own unique feel. But more on that later.
Other times you will run into an 'arena' were you pretty much have to block all the spawn points for enemies.
There is also rage mode, which was my favourite.
The colours all go into this Sin City kinda thing and Rubi is much stronger and when you kill someone they disappear and the white blood kinda floats in the air for a while which is really cool. The rage mode and the arena mode combine themselves sometimes so you'll be doing an arena in rage mode.
There are also two car chase sections which are ok... But I'm glad there wasn't much because you pretty much sit on top of a car and shoot other people, and all though the action in these scenes is large, they are pretty boring and are better off in a movie.
Wet is a combination of sword play and gun play.
The normal diving in slowmotion is here, as it's that type of game in case you didn't already guess.
A new addition to the genre is sliding on your knees and shooting people which not only looks cool, but can get you out of sticky situations, so it comes in handy.
The aiming has also been tweaked, it's a combination of auto aim and having to aim yourself and it works really well.
The auto aim targets an enemy when you do a special slo-mo move so you can aim another so it gets rid of the baddies quicker.
You can also run across walls or run up them, and if you don't grab onto anything then you will do a backflip of the wall in slow motion of course, and shoot people which I think is the coolest move you can pull off.
You can also run up enemies, pushing them back and freely shooting them without him attacking you.
The sword comes in handy too. If you're too crowded by people then pull out the sword, and that will finish them of quickly, cutting of their head, arm or anything else.
The sword is also used to open doors which triggers a button mashing mini game, much in the likes of God of War.
These are made more entertaining as Rubi often shouts out a variety of profanities telling the door to open... Yeah... reeeaal useful... But it adds a chuckle. Infact, there is a large amount of swearing in this game.
There is plenty of it, so if you get offended by that sort of thing DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. But seriously, buy it anyway.
There is a neat little upgrading system that's simple, but you need to use it and it still makes you want the next upgrade, which is a good thing.
Killing people in awesome ways gives you style points, like Strangehold, and you use these to buy new moves or upgrade your existing moves, or make your guns more deadly.
By now, you're probably thinking the amount of times I've said "like Stranglehold" or "like Prince of Persia" this is probably worrying you.
Do not fear.
The game is perfectly good anyway and none of these things matter, as I've said, Wet feels like a game of its own.
I will make a complaint about this games graphics.
You CAN stand them but... come on... they really could have been better.
The music also really fits the mood of the game, I can't really explain what genre but it goes well with what's happening on screen and really works to the games advantage.
I think that's all I have to say about Wet.
Admittedly, my first impressions weren't fantastic, but stick with it. If you like a grindhouse, John Woo sort of game then Wet is for you.
