My first wrestling game brought some really good ideas to the table. It brought some real stinkers too.

WCW/NWO Revenge was my first of many wrestling games and was one of the best wrestler-em-ups (WTF?) that had been brought out in 1998. The game has a good size roster of wrestlers with great graphics and a innovative fighting system but struggled with a weak "Story" mode and only 4 match types. The bad things are that WWF Attitude that came out at the same time has authentic entrance music and commentary while Revenge has only generic random rock music and the only other sounds are coming from Randy Savage (OH YEAHHHHHHH!!!), Kim Chee and the Referee who isnt in the ring and only appears on the screen when youre pinning someone. Also Attitude has a in depth create-a-wrestler mode while on Revenge you can only change the wrestlers costume.

The Main mode consists of you picking a wrestler and trying to win a title belt by beating ten random wrestlers one after another and then facing the champion. So the main mode pretty much sucks while the only matches you can choose from are singles, tag team, handicap and battle royal. So in all in all the game sounds pretty shallow but in reality it is what happens in the ring that counts.

In WWF Attitude you beat your opponent by stringing together combos to do moves like on games like Tekken,Soul Calibur etc and most wrestling fans know that combos in wrestling games is not the way to go. So AKI came up with this brilliant wrestling setup which I think was only bettered by Smackdown Here Comes The Pain. This setup leads for exciting matches without having to think what to press. This game is great for multiplayer because the action just becomes crazy and hilarious. Also there are several "fantasy" characters to choose from including a ninja, Frankenstein, A fat chinese fella who wont stop screaming and another chinese fella wearing a massive nappy. The only thing I would say about the roster though is that there is no ric flair or arn anderson. As the Hurricane would say "Whats up with That!" But it is a big plus to have Bret Hart in the game though.

All in all I would say WCW/NWO Revenge has its faults, but if your looking for great old-school Rasslin' action, look no further
