WCW Backstage Assault, I felt was a good game, but wrestling reviewers hated it because it took the best part of wrestling away the ring. You never fought in the ring, but it different areas, such as the parking lot, bathroom, gym and the bosses office. I felt that all the challenges you had were very fun, like hitting a person over the head with a tv, would unlock more characters to use. But the hardest thing was making the difficulty rise to Hard, on this level you could rarely hit the opponent, let along with the match. If the ring would have been added to the game, then reviewers might have liked it, but I thought it was very good. Smackdown kind of copied Backstage Assault with their use of backstage areas, but instead they used a ring and received great applause.
