iv always loved the games, i think this ones is one of the best thus far, the games out there stuff and even its hickups oddly make the game. always has for the past 3.

I really like the game, I was VERY worried from all the reviews but I got it anyway. its better than the other 3 in my opinion. Over 80 fighting styles including hand to hand, dual swords,spears, and a couple guns. They took out extra defense and health for weapons, thus making you have to learn skills that reduce enemy attack damage within styles you find/learn. At the moment i only have a 50% reduced damage. These allow you to go into hard mode, harakiri mode, and some normal mode fights without getting one-shotted. I say all this because it took awhile for me to find out how to survive harder fights.

I havent played it yet, but I do have played the other installements of the franchise, and in perspective, it bothers me how it has evolved from a game that showed an historical event (WS1), with a dramatic view and as a hard and powerful argument (being a samurai was -dont know if still- like a responsability and an honor

I havent played it yet, but I do have played the other installements of the franchise, and in perspective, it bothers me how it has evolved from a game that showed an historical event (WS1), with a dramatic view and as a hard and powerful argument (being a samurai was -dont know if still- like a responsability and an honor), to a more "light" game, where the focus is more in something like a GTA (I love GTA, but you really cant take the story on that game seriously), like a have-fun-and-do-bizarre-stuff game where being a samurai, its contradictions and all the feel of the historic topic dies fast... I dont know if I am correct, but I feel this new installement looks like that, or it is presented like that in the review.

 @monchoago Hate to break it to you, but being a samurai was as much about murder, rape and getting wasted on someone else's wine as it was about responsibility or honour, just like knights or any other "noble" warrior caste.  Sure there were good ones, but any game that depicts them all as noble warriors following a code is just as ridiculous as this game looks.

Don't get me wrong, I love samurai and knights, but I recognize their darker side and feel it makes them more interesting if anything.

 @Jamoid Yes yes, that is what I ment with "contradictions", the ones of the samurai itself, and the ones of the historical context. What I find different is more the ambientation and the orientation of the games (I say it again: as it seems to be with this installement). I believe the difference is in how things are presented and the lightness of your actions and consecuences. I repeat, I also like that kind of games (like GTA), but Way Of the Samurai had other feel (or has, it is just a question). As you, I believe in that contradictions and it is not a pour idealization of the characters. But in WS1, when you underestood how things ended and the consecuences of every one of your actions, that is what I take like responsability and honor, no matter if you where a "noble" warrior or a murderer.

 @Jamoid I agree, its just a shame that if it started serious, it changes to silly. We will wait and see!

 @monchoago Ah, I understand you now, sorry. :)  I'd be happy with a silly or serious samurai game really, what worries me is the fairly mediocre looking production values.  Still undecided.

if the game was serious and had a better combat system would be perfect...

I played, and loved WOtS2 for ps2. This game looks like it improves on it in terms of having stuff to see and do. I love the humor and wackiness, but also loved the seriousness of part 2. I fear this game may have taken it too far.

If I combine this with the rather poor quality of combat and visuals... my interest in the game wanes

I love games were they don't care about reality, especially when fuzz about historical events, but I think it should have a better score

They seem to have gone a little too far with the silliness this time around. I thought this game was rated Mature - from seeing this review it seems to be one of the most immature games I've ever seen.

I prefer the older WotS games that were more serious but still had enough humour to keep things varied. I think I'll be missing this one. It's a shame there aren't more open-world Samurai games out there.

 @Scorpion1813

When you put it like that, it would sound like Way of the Samurai has suffered from the same fate as Saint's Row the 3rd.

 @BlazeODU

But at least SR3 has alternatives such as GTA, Sleeping Dogs, and Watch Dogs, etc.

I don't think there are any other open-world Samurai games out there.

Anything that can make me go WTF and laugh is pretty cool in my book.

Scorpion1813
Scorpion1813

 @MJ12-Conspiracy Well as long as someone can enjoy it. It might not be suited to me any more but that doesn't mean I want the series to fail.

If anything I'd want it to be more successful so that more companies may do something similar.
