Warriors Orochi is made of characters from Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. The game still has a heavy dose of repetition. Warriors Orochi offers very little contents but the story mode should keep you busy for a while.

Ok, there is a story mode, that's good. You get to choose one 'clan' or group of people. The story mode starts with a good opening video which is better than watching the game itself. There are over 70 fighters, which you can fight countless number of enemies. It's very fun at first, but still a very repetitive game. Anyway the story starts when the serpent king, so called Orochi opens a hole which sucks the three kingdoms of China. If you never played Koei's Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors you probably won't understand what's going on at first. After Orochi sucks the kingdoms, all warriors end up in a place where they can fight each other, means that the 3 kingdoms are near each others. At first the story mode will be a bit annoying at first because you might not know what you have to do. There are certain conditions that you must do. There are 2 of them. How you can win and how you are defeated. Practically, most of the game has to be spent in a group of warriors, which are pretty lame. Objectives are pretty repetitive since the main objectives are to defeat opponents. For win you either have to protect a base, or prevent that a guy of yours die. There isn't taking out a whole army one handed. That would have been fun. If you don't stick to your group, the person that shouldn't die, dies. You could have done the whole thing for nothing. There are 4 difficulties. Easy, Normal, Hard and Chaos. In Easy mode common enemies never attack. Stronger enemies are much better. They are more powerful. You'll find tons of same dumb enemies.

There is some sort of multiplayer mode, which is the free play mode and the story mode. Which by the way are the only 2 modes. You can take the game with a friend. It's is fun for a little while, but it is too repetitive. Fortunately enemies drop a lot of recovery items such as power, speed and defense boost. When enemies die, they immediately disappear leaving no trace, and if they leave they leave you a boost item. Background aren't that great too. Sometimes it's not clear far apart and graphics are a little old. Voice acting isn't so back, there is a lot in battles. Music in battle could have been better.

The game is made up with repetitive combat and enemies, and something new, very little new. If you're a fan of the series you might appreciate the new storyline, but anyone looking for a heavy beat-'em-up, Warriors Orochi offers too few to make it worth buying, but a rental is still good to experience why Koei's Samurai and Dynasty Warriors are the same.
