A game that doesnt appeal to me much.

Warriors Orochi 2 is the sequel to Warriors Orochi that follows the story of stopping Lord Serpent King Orochi from destroying the world. I seriously didn't expect a sequel as the story ended in the first game. I am a huge warriors game fan and I got excited upon hearing that the game was announced. But upon playing it, I didn't expect this game to be great. It's arguably the weakest game in the Warriors game series. I am sure many of you would know that this game is a cross-over of Samurai and Dynasty warriors.

This game has a lot lot lot of problems that doesn't seem to be noticed by the developers that made the first game. The hack and slash combat is present and will always be present. I am getting sick and tired of mashing and mashing and mashing away at the X button. Why can't Koei change the combat system and develop something new and fresh that would appeal to gamers? But the plus side is that there are some moves to execute that were not present at Dynasty Warriors 6. Each character has a special move that can be activated by the RB button. You can also use moves using the X and Y button simultaneously. As you level up throughout the game, your moves become more powerful and easier to execute. Your health Bar and Musou Gauge also increases. Missions are aplenty in this game. You start off the story-mode playing the Shu, Wu,Wei, Samurai and Orochi storylines. The story is kinda boring actually. As you play each storyline, you will notice that the story is about preventing the revivation of Orochi that would actually be revived and you would face him off in the last battle. The story is told indirectly in each Kingdom. The only standout is the Orochi storyline where it takes place before the first game. It tells of how Orochi conquered the whole Kingdom. When playing missions, there are a lot of problems that hamper the experience. Frame rate runs smoothly in single player but once playing in split-screen, the frame rate decreases. Graphics are also not to standard. This is irritating as the action is slow. The environment is also bland-looking as you only see rocks and mountains and such. Character voices are also horrible as they are not original. There are not many cut-scenes in the game and most of the briefings happen in dialogues only.

Enemy varieties are not much and you will see many look-alike offices bearing the same name. Also, just by playing missions, you will be able to unlock characters easily. Unlike in Dynasty Warriors 6 where you have to meet certain conditions to unlock Characters, all you have to do is to play every single mission in the story mode and you would have unlocked all characters. This doesn't even provide a challenge. There are some major issues in this game that seriously need to be pointed out. When you battle Orochi, your allies are occasionally standing there and doing nothing. And Orochi just come straight at you and won't battle your allies. Same goes for enemy officers. It's as if the enemy wants to get revenge at you only.

There are also other issues in this game. But I will just keep my review short as I don't want to spend a lot of time reviewing a horrible game. All I am going to say is that don't waste your money getting this game. If you haven't gotten Dynasty Warriors 6 yet, get that game. But if you got that game already and completed already and wanting desperately to play another warriors game, then get this game. Other than that, don't waste your money getting this game. Move on.
