First of all, forget the reviews that compares this to Civilization. This game was not meant to be civilization copy, this game is the long waited successor of Microprose's grossly underrated Master of Magic.

If you like turn based strategy, but more focused on combat rather than development also fan of fantastic creatures, looting and most importantly magic this game is for you. For 20 bucks, this is the best you can get in this mostly ignored genre.

Keep in mind that, game is not a walk in the park. If you over extend quickly, your inexperinced troops will be quickly eliminated by rogue monsters or enemy troops. You have to watch for the right balance of expansion with defence

There is also a DLC availabel with the game. I strongly suggest you to get it, as it gives you 2 strong characters that can help you alot in the early game for survival and with proper updates can be very useful even in the late game.
