On The Nintendo Switch, The Difficulty Is Not High As It Once Was, But There's Still A Lot Of Challenge And Fun!

In the early 2000's, I managed to play a LOT of video games; even by the standards of the people who actually MAKE them for a living! But this is one of the few games that I missed out on the first time around. While I got a sample of what was available for this game in "Wario World" (as that game had samples of the microgames as playable rewards), there wasn't anything strong enough to suggest to me that this would be a game worth owning. Fast forward 20 years later, and now this game is available to play on the Nintendo Switch's Virtual Console System for the Game Boy Advance! The sample games available in "Wario World" do NOT do this game proper justice! First of all, I was AMAZED by the plethora of microgames that were available in this game! It really is amazing how Nintendo really took a comprehensive look at 2D video games up until 2003, often referencing history both well-known, and sometimes really obscure! How many other video games can say that they contain references to "Mario Bros., Duckhunt, Wild Gunman, R.O.B., Gyromite, Super Mario Bros., The Legend Of Zelda, Metroid, Punch-Out, F-Zero," and even Virtual Boy's "Mario Clash"?! And not only that, but there are a lot of unique other video game microgames that run the gamut from sci-fi, to sports, to retro-based games, to I.Q. based games, to games revolving around nature, I managed to count at least 111 completely different microgames (not counting difficulty level changes) available to play in this game! While the premise of all the microgames are simple, complete any given task in a short amount of time (3-6 seconds) with boss challenges being longer and harder; and the controls are simple as well; anything that needs to be done only involves the direction pad and the A button to do any action, the variety of all the different games you have to play, and having to play a lot of them in a fast-paced order; remembering what to do for each one; will provide no shortage of challenge for challenge seekers! While the availability of the Nintendo Switch Virtual Console's Rewind Feature GREATLY reduces the number of headaches this game can cause, it also drastically reduces the actual challenge of this game! Thankfully, the graphics can get surprisingly great in places, the music and sounds are great, and this game (containing a bunch of micro-games), can still provide a lot of fun and replay value! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a retro blast from the past. Enough said, true believers!
