With a huge selection of user-made games, WarioWare DIY Showcase is great fun.

DISCLAIMER: I have not played WarioWare DIY for the DS. This review will cover the game without the DS version. This review will most likely be re-written when I get the DS game.

WarioWare DIY Showcase is the Wii version of the DS game, WarioWare DIY. The DS game not only had it's own microgames, but it let you create your own microgames. With WarioWare DIY Showcase on the Wii, you can share those microgames online with many people, and play pre-made microgames made with the DS version's editor.

WarioWare DIY Showcase has different people that you play microgames with. There's Dribble and Spitz, 18-Volt, Wario Man, and Kat & Anna. They each specialize in different microgames. For example, 18-Volt specializes in microgames of older videogames. There are several microgames in the actual game itself. When you play with the characters, you have four lives, and if you fail to complete the microgame, you lose one life, and if you lose them all, it's game over.

As for the microgames themselves, they all use the pointing function of the Wii Remote, rather than the touch screen function of the DS. You do not get complete instructions on the microgame. It will tell you what to do, but it won't tell you how to do it.

Now the main part of this game is the ability to download user made microgames. You can play a game online, and if you like it, you can put it in your shelf, effectively downloading it. After you play a game, you can rate it from 1-5 stars. You can also leave a comment, but the problem is that all the comments are premade, and no matter how many stars you give the game, you still only give positive comments. I guess you could give sarcastic comments, but it would be better if there was a different set of comments for a negative rating.

Not only are there games by users, but there are games by big name creators that you may have heard of. For example, there is a Meat Boy microgame by Edmund McMullen.

In this game though, you cannot create your own microgames. If you want to do that, you need the DS version to create your own game. So if you thought you could create a game with this, then you'll be dissapointed.

THE VERDICT!

WarioWare DIY Showcase is 800 Wii Points, which seems reasonable for what you get. Even though there is no editor for creating levels in this version, there is still plenty of fun to have even without the DS version. I would definently reccomend this game for fans of the series. I will revisit this review when I get the DS version.
