Vermintide 1 with classes, new enemies and bugs

User Rating: 6 | Warhammer: Vermintide 2 PC

I played 8 hours during free weekend and got appropriate impression about the game. I had few good wins and many bad games, unlocked next class on level 10 for dwarf, who is my favourite character in End Times and who uses same techniques in combat.

This is like Vermintide 1 with apparent innovations in more complex combat, more enemies, more bugs, even mission balance open for random difficulty.

More cooperation needed for success and less control over game, more convenient joining other's game but not hosting.

Better inventory management. Better end game loot is rewarded for battle assistance, keeping allies alive.

If you get a good team and bit of luck in the process with not so many mini bosses, you can enjoy the game despite its flaws, however it is frustrating to lose because players ignore teammates.

Playing as a new player not knowing the map is especially tricky when searching for the correct tunnel leading to the next objective while having enemies chasing you.

Hosting game is a joke. When you lose your host, you lose the progress, game over, play again.

Ridiculous how this could easily be Vermintide 1 delivered in DLCs. End times needs more content and variety that is presented in Vermintide 2.

Better equipment increases win chances for whole team but skill is still essential.

2 additional unlockable classes for each hero with different weapon types and abilities.

New bosses with special abilities enter battle assisted by waves of smaller foes.

New special attack abilities and more kinds of attack while old ones are still present.

Enemy attacks can interrupt your attacks, health regeneration and boosts.

More variety of enemies while old ones are present, many enemies at once.

You don't have to run around the Keep to gear up and craft. Just access the inventory.

Inventory is wider and clear. You can open loot box and gear up in one place.

Joining the game is more convenient and random match adds bonus to loot.

Shorter loading screens overall save a lot of my time which I can invest into actual play.

Getting loot and returning to the Keep after game is automated.

You can no longer get loot with one hero for another, instead you get loot for another class.

Teamplay is necessary for revival and surviving assassins.

Game rewards you with more loot when winning and surviving.

Rats with bag provide more loot, old feature.

You still get loot if host disconnects after endgame.

You can achieve Heroic Deed to host special mission on your own.

Heroic Deed mission has different objective however not distinctive from basic ones.

You can finish Heroic Deed easy mission with bots.

One mission leads through dark tunnels where using torch light is essential.

Fiery woman is more useful, especially as bot.

You can repair windows leading into your defended position.

Easy control of movement associated with easy passing through enemies.

You have target puppets to test your damage output in the Keep backyard.

It's difficult to find ways towards next objective if you're new when enemies surround you which isn't so bad but other new players will leave you behind.

Maps are wide but missions linear, this leads to distraction and team divide whereas noobs will rush and players who never played map will be lost in wrong tunnel backtracking.

If your host leaves, you lose all mission progress so you need to protect him.

Enemies are glitching into the air so you have to shoot them above you. If they stand above, they can not hit you.

The option to host the game is not provided, only if you own Heroic Deed or start new tutorial.

Unappealing story, unskippable cutscene, especially annoying if I want to host my game through tutorial.

Hitboxes are not proper as you can hit enemy from quite a distance, even hitting objective with blast weapon seems inaccurate.

Enemies are glitching inside each other or their bodies are seized into the air, old bugs which persist.

Enemies can walk through the walls, also if you push them.

You can pass through most enemies and easily lose sight over them, unlike hordes, harder enemies and bosses.

Degraded character graphics, music and sound effects are silencing as they fade out and fade in randomly.

You can't change your gear, equip bombs and boosts at the beginning of mission but before.

Verdict

6/10
