Surprisingly good for Relic's first 3rd person shooter game.

I have been a fan of Warhammer 40k for a long time now, and this is undoubtedly a very good game even for casual gamers to experience.

Graphics- The graphics are above average and doesnt stay low-end.The engine has very good use of pixel shaders but the texture detail still needs improvement, but not much of a problem. Still, the environment/ maps of the game is very well designed, so is the character design which doesnt stray away from the Wh40k lore. The graphics are solid and systems can handle themselves when the game throws endless swarms of Orks at the player, representing good balance between graphics and system performance. The animations are solid and the finishing move is an eye catcher, brutality ftw.

Sound- The voice acting is good but the sound fx of war and the explosions that occur nearby blows the player away. Makes a flat description on what war is all about.

GamePlay- The game is no Gears of War, but a mix between 3ps and button bashing melee combat. The game offers no cover system (for obvious reasons) and is hard due to the fact that the enemy will throw endless shi* at you, with high tier units mixed with them that requires 1 on 1 to be able to beat them. The only problem in the game is how fast you advance through equipment, such as getting the Thunder Hammer somewhere in the middle of the game, and such inconvenient balance options where jump packs are disabled or where there are too much enemies to avoid getting damaged. The game is rather arcadish and can be repetitive at times, but the game is relatively short before the player can feel some kind of repetitiveness.

Multiplayer- Again arcadish and mediocre. One that deserves praise is the amount of customization that you can do to your Space Marine/CSM character, and the unlockable goodies that you encounter.

The game is surprisingly good for Relic's first 3PS, but that could be expected since the trailers kicked much a** and shows promising footage on how the game looks like, which in the final product, became a success. 8.5/10
